I don't mind the AF sets either, but playing the devil's advocate, I'm almost sure that the designers would want to preserve that identity in specific.
I'm absolutely fine with them keeping AF sets restricted. After all they're strictly designed for a specific job, unlike the role sets which all share a single theme.
Not gonna lie, from a really selfish perspective, I just want to wear the level 60 MCH goggles on all my jobs. I'd settle for AF gear being locked if we did actually get unrestricted glamour for everything else.
That said, if AF gear is what is holding it all back then it isn't that big of a deal and everything should just be unlocked.
I see both sides of wanting AF sets locked eternally. It's iconic to a job, but you can also use job specific titles and role specific mounts while using any job. A DRK wearing <The White> isn't any more game breaking than a WHM wearing a Chaos Burgeonet.
Can agree. A big part of my FF11 white mage was building them into a tank cleric looking character with plate armor. I don’t mind ffxiv’s Whm choices..but I’d like more variety. Duel-wielding hammers at that.
As someone earlier said very well: if the devs don’t keep to the rules for their NPCs, we shouldn’t need to. (Specifically stuff like Lyse’s plate boots and Papalymo’s plate gauntlets)
I feel like they ought to give more sets the same treatment as the Sky Pirate's gear; particularly ones like the design contest winners that tend to keep a fairly unified aesthetic across all of the jobs and don't actually have the fending/maiming as plate armor and what not.
Of all the sets, the sky pirates one felt the most…off. It is such a specific look which is fine, but there is very little variation between the sets. I would have much rather had like… 2 different from the “max max” set and 2 from the “steampunk”, then give us 2-4 from some other sets entirely. Maybe bring back the old level 50 stuff, but no class restrictions and dye-able. Stuff like the Crystal tower raid series.I feel like they ought to give more sets the same treatment as the Sky Pirate's gear; particularly ones like the design contest winners that tend to keep a fairly unified aesthetic across all of the jobs and don't actually have the fending/maiming as plate armor and what not.
