All vacant plots in all wards and districts should be raffled, not camped

Im no fan of the first come first served method, but i see a problem with the raffle system of OCE.
In the first raffle pass every plot is going to be snagged, unless you have a few billion in Gil, most players will only be able to invest their gil in one raffle, which means, there are going to be a LOT of people who lost not only that raffle, but their one chance at getting a plot until someone relinquishes theirs by going inactive... and all things considered? That's not going to happen any time soon.

So thats it, you get maybe one chance and then its all done, every plot gone for who knows how long.

This system, even under raffle is ridiculously stupidly designed.
Its my hope that they make Islands able to do everything a housing estate can and more, My fear is A) I win a plot raffle giving up all my saved gil, only to then find I could of just saved my gil and had a much larger Island for free.
And B) I dont get a housing plot and find the Island is not an actual housing estate like an apartment but a static like an Inn room except you can have your pets wandering and garden etc.

They can provide an instanced home for everyone now, they should just refund everyone who owns a house and scrap the estates giving everyone their own instanced home.

It's an awful idea. The timer should be on occupancy after purchase, so if you get a house you stay in it for 30 days or something along these lines. The lottery is going to be awful.

On the other hand, if I miss out I won't have to pay my sub monthly like I have been for over five years just to keep a house, so that's something!

Other MMO's are capable of doing it. No reason why they can't do it.

Lets see what the Island sanctuaries do in that regard.

As the title says, all the vacant plots should be raffled instead of just the new plots coming with Ishgard's housing district in patch 6.1.

There's at least one vacant plot on the server I play on Lich, that has come up since the release of OCE servers and I suspect more will come in the next 12-24 hours as the paid transfers open up.

A lot of players want to buy a house and the current system of camping a plot on the timer promotes both botting and just unhealthy of gameplay of spamming the purchase land button until it becomes available in the hopes you are first. This is how my FC acquired a small plot in The Goblet last year, someone camped until whatever stupid time at like 4 AM to buy it.

I'd like to see all existing plots that become vacant raffled on a 14 day timer once they become vacant. That gives people enough time to make an entry into the raffle without it taking months to become occupied again.

Likewise, there should really be a limit of one house per game license across all servers/DCs with said change being retroactively applied. I know it probably affects a few players but there's also a limited number of housing plots in comparison to the amount of people playing, this would be an entirely fair change.

I'm aware that SE are just adapting a system that was clearly designed with a smaller player pool in mind, but I feel like they're leaving it too late to actually fix the house acquisition system. I know private islands are coming but they're not the same feeling as being in a community alongside other players.

I've already imagined 2-3 ways the same people who abused housing in the past might abuse a lottery system. SE is very wise not to switch the entire system over until they've observed what the usual suspects will try to do in order to take more than their share.

Exactly this, lol. It'll go from 'omg waah I missed a house on day one, im never gonna get a house nor am I even going to try again!!' to 'omg waaah I entered a lottery but lost, im never gonna get a house and now the chances are so slim with my gil being tied up, I REALLY dont wanna try again!!' Then more people will argue for instanced housing which imo is the worst idea possible unless they make a way for people to still come visit because the entire point to having houses to having people over + neighborhood feels which actually DO matter to those of us who talk to our neighbors (I know its not common for everyone, but in both my house and my fc's wards, neighbors do actually visit each other and say hi when we see each other out).

It'll still be a big headache with the cherry on top being that 90% of people who yell about wanting a house never actually do anything with it once they get it lol. I say this as someone that sneaks into peoples houses very very very regularly because I'm nosy and I love seeing inspiration for new ideas in person rather than just a bunch of screenshots on twitter or the xivhousing site. 7 times out of 10 the house is essentially bare and a waste of time even loading into. There's an insane amount of houses that people are keeping just to have without actually using other than to store like..one desk and a fireplace. Which they could easily do that with an apartment, but they want to act too good for apartments even though apartments are plenty of space to use, store, and even get creative with too. It'll be all the same complaints packaged with "muh gils being withhold!" as the golden ribbon tied around it. Oh yeah that and, "I bought a small hoping to relocate to a medium or large but now I'm screwed and can't lottery out of this small to save my life!!" That'll be me, I'm sure. I might not say it because of pride, but I'm sure I'll think it. Maybe I'm even thinking it now.

One of the biggest issues is that you can own multiple houses. It should really be capped and retroactively applied that you can only own one house per game license. Likewise, when such change is applied, you remove systems to convert into FC houses and such so if a player owns five plots, four of them are guaranteed to go back onto the market.

Agreed 14 days is way to long. It should be max an hour that way it rewards people actively searching for a house instead of just lazy sailing once a day.

An hour is a bit short. A nice amount might be the 10 hours we waited to peak time. So, that at the end of the day, the time is the same, clicking or lotto.
