AFAIK, even the one glove that looks like it breaks the rule ends up following it.
I can't remember the name of it, bit I use it on my BLM and Reaper.
It's from Heavansward IIRC, it has one armored sleeve with the other arm completely bare... except for one small band at the top, In the exact same place the band from the Ravel and Caster PvP gloves have it.
Which basically just confirms your theory on how it works lol
