    Nice share! I've only gone through the WHM video so far and am not a fan of some of the solutions, but their procedures/guidelines are just /chef's kiss (with the exception that I think we should be plenty willing to require some new actions and systems from the devs, rather than just making do with basic tweaks and consolidation).

    Honestly, a lot of the core aspects to the changes in the SCH video are things I was thinking would make sense. Having seen SMN's rework, having buttons dedicated to your current pet make a lot of sense and would enable Selene and Eos to offer something unique again. I'd be excited to play with these redesigns if there were ever a way to experience them.

    Agree, healers designed by him would be so much more fun to play. Their degree in game design is really showing and the best of all is that healers would be more unique again (even if their redesigned AF is just Addersting).

    It just goes to show when your designer plays in a role, they understand how to make it engaging without forcing it to be a convoluted mess of disconnected actions, which is what I imagine the designers think would happen if they added depth to the healers.

    So, while I agree with almost everything he's saying in the WHM video, I do have more concerns about his take on SCH.

    Largely, the longer I was listening to it, I got more of the impression that he wasn't "inspired" by SGE so much as... lifting ideas from it wholesale, having SCH reflect the same general relationship with regards to its healing effects (like having Eos bind to a target a la Kardia) and barriers (being rewarded with additional damage when your Adloquium barriers are consumed a la Addersting).
    I'm sure he means well and I agree it would be an improvement... but I would rather SCH and SGE have distinctive styles of healing between them, besides just resource management.

    Plus he also claims not to have any idea why the devs are "so against" a DoT-oriented job, when they're gone on record about DoTs being resource intensive and confusing/boring for players to manage, in addition to the feedback received when they tried to make Ruin dependent on DoTs to encourage interaction. I feel it would be harder to make this one land compared to his WHM revamp.

    I disagree that the barriers idea is lifted from SGE. With the way the game is designed, the only way to incentivize GCD healing is to reward well-timed GCD healing with as much, if not more, DPS than just mashing your nuke. The simplest, and generally balanced way of handling this for barriers is to reward when your barrier breaks, which isn't specifically lifted from SGE, but DRK if you really wanted to dig into semantics. How you actually take advantage of the resources you gain completely changes the game, which in his example of SCH would result in reapplying or spreading your DoTs--something very different to what SGE gains (nothing).

    As for the Kardia tactic, sure perhaps it's taken from SGE, but there's an undeniable value in being able to control who's healed rather than have no control whatsoever. It's a fair direction to move in for the sake of making your faerie more reliable as a source of external healing, though I'd even wonder if it would be better if Eos and Selene offered a single target Regen that they had 100% upkeep on. It would force you to reapply it, but one of the things that makes pet AI tricky is that they're constantly casting something, so what happens when you select an ability as they're casting Embrace? That's a part of what makes responsiveness of the faerie unreliable. You could also just place a permanent Regen and give it the Closed Position/Kardia treatment that it can only be on one person at a time, but that's a lot less engaging.
