An educated rant: Why pentamelding is %@$&*!-backwards

I can kind of agree, you shouldn't have to craft and gather to over meld, and having materia for crafting / gathering is kind of stupid.
I was hoping this thread would be more about the materia system in general and how it is over all just kinda crap.
It is weird to me that crafted gear is able to be pentamelded while raid drops are not. It sadly makes everything you did before a new savage patch obsolete because pentamelded crafted gear in most cases is going to be the better option.
The material in general is a boring RNG system that could be a lot more interesting and fun.
If you ask me how it could be more interesting and fun, I don't know it's not really my job to figure that out it's Yoshi P and his teams job.

Blue gear pentamelding is forbidden. Green crafted gear it is allowed.

Having a fully pentameled green ornate set is almost if not better then Normal gear. Not by much....but it's pretty close. But the GIL you have to spend to get it is borderline flexing.

Ok...it's basically flexing.

When you have a stock pile of mats and materia.....it's pretty simple to pentameld your own crafting/gathering sets. Which only enhances your self reliance when making the best raid food and tinctures. Which are pretty in demand for dropping the current tier savage.

This is blatantly false. No amount of substat will make up for losing out on 29 points of main stat, and 13 points of substat that are completely inaccessible because you're 20 item levels down on a chest piece (which is the only piece that Ornate exists for).

The REAL no lifers raid and also have all crafters to max! Heck knows they've made it easy enough to cap crafters.

Exactly.I level all my crafts so I can meld and repair my own gear. (Can't pentameld any of my DPS gear though.)
Gil comes from gathering. The only gear I've made is a set of gathering gear for my botanist retainer
