I have the same question actually. At least make Chainsaw oGCD because now it's essentially just AOE Drill.I don't really get why some people dislike the thought of having variety on what skills require of you. The arguments above make it sound like the game would be better if every skill in the game was instant (oh and best ranged on top of it) so you can just blindly press your rotation without having to think anything at all about matching skill timings to enemy mechanics with when you can move and when you can't.
Not every class has to be a blackmage of course, but what's so horrible about having one skill be more risk/reward instead of being another generic split second instant mobile skill?
