You don't rp then, also conan exiles poe your place is major. It has extreme worth as a rp hub, also gardening+chocobo TrainingPeople keep bringing up Housing, and I honestly don't understand why they care so much. Housing in most games is such a nothing-burger. The only purpose it serves is a place to keep your stuff, and that's mainly in single player RPGs. When I'm immersing myself in the game, I find inns are my homes more than anywhere. Uldah's inn (Quicksand) in particular is where I go to lay my head and exit the game because it's my starting city.
Yes the housing system is flawed, but it has no value beyond that which you place on it. As such, the argument seems like sophistry. Yes I learned that word from Emet-Selch, no I'm not 100% sure if I used it correctly, and no I won't apologize for using a new word I learned no matter where I learned it.
The messaging has work so far. Quiet frankly I wouldn't want to feel like I have to only play FF14 and only FF14.
And yet in WoW you can still complete new patch content in a day. They still want you logging in every single day though. Next.
You're comparing two different things, here.
What people are referring to with regards to "respecting a player's time" is in regards to having to basically devote all your playtime to the game in order to stay current and relevant.
Adding an optional slice of content that requires a bit of work into it, in no way, is the same as having to devote countless playtime hours to a structure of "end game" like WoW has.
If you take a 3 month break in WoW, you're hopelessly behind and near out of luck.
If you take a 3 month break in XIV, you catch up in a week or two, depending on how casually you approach it.
Meh, I'd rather have this, then have the likely alternative of them putting in endless power grinds that force you into staying subbed the whole time. Though, if you have a house, you're also kind of forced to stay subbed.
How?
I don't wanna play this game 24/7 lmao.
That's a fundamental misunderstanding of the relic weapon content. Relic is supposed to be a slow, grindy, but casual way to get a relevant weapon (and only BiS in the .5 patch). And there's many systems in the relic process where you can take a weekly quest which will boost whatever you need in your current step. So you can log in a few times a week, get some content done, and you'll have your relic. Otherwise you can push it hardcore and get your weapon in a day.
In fact, you probably chose the exact kind of content that respects your time: Don't want to farm memories/clusters/anima/whatever? You can take it easy over the course of months and still get it. Grab your weekly quests and you'll still feel like you're making good progress. If you WANT to no-life it and get your relic NOW (usually not a thing people do until the substat customization stage, and even then raid weapons tend to have higher ilvl and main stats until the .5 patch) you can do it but there's no system forcing you to do it or you're always left behind.
It's not even riling people up. Actual troll threads tend to bring up controversial topics, or topics that have divided opinion among the community, and start a huge argument over them. People get riled up over those.
Nowadays, people post something stupid, have the majority of posters rightfully tell them it was stupid, then try to turn around and claim they "baited" them by "pretending" to be stupid and really did something clever. It's the lowest form of attention seeking and rather sad really. It's not even trolling, it's much more pathetic and trolling is already pathetic enough.
Poster A: (Posts something stupid)
Poster B: That sounds dumb.
Poster A: Hah! I made you post, baited lololol.
Doesn't look too good, does it.

Respecting your time doesn't mean "here's a hand out." They aren't intending for players to no-life relic grinds just like they don't expect you to farm 99 Primal tokens in two weeks. Content is designed with the more casual playerbase in mind, where you'll be able to log in and make some small progression towards a select goal over the span of months.
None of this is to say Bozja or the Shadowbringers relic grind would good. I, personally, have a lot of criticisms towards both. Nevertheless, that's really a different topic.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
That's what made WoW unfun for me. Constant chasing for player power isn't good for the game. Don't play FFXIV like a WoW clone, because it just isn't one. When the director and producer of the game tells people to take break in between patches that means the dev team has designed the game in such a way that players can achieve everything in a new patch within a month. Thats good for casual players I guess. But what about hardcore players like me that plays all day? In WoW whenever I don't raid or farm mythic+, I continuously farm artifact power to get that 1% advantage over other players. But what does FFXIV provide outside of raids and dungeons that give players direct power advantage in the open world if players have the time to farm all day? The open world content in FFXIV is dreadful... fates provide no power gain advantage.
