I went back to check on the cutscenes and I'm either blind, either he stopped breathing.

I don't like his ending, it was glorious and good but... That's it?
His background is literally "I'm strong and the world is tasteless to me "
I was expecting a lot more from him, what was the point of making him dream about the final days?

I really liked Endwalker but the sudden replacement of final bad guy and him just wandering here and there without a goal was kinda bland.
I'm not expecting him to come back after all his crimes for pure enjoyment, he made everything and was written in a way so everyone hated him.

He's clearly unfinished, I would like for him to come back but they'd better write it good with a big mystery on Zenos identity/secret/nature.
Dude puts an empire on fire and started an apocalypse just to feel something. He's behind so many massacre his second returnal would be very hard to swallow.
If I see him again I'd better be given the opportunity to uppercut him for free.

I like zenos and i hate him, which is the point. He reminds me a bit like Hisoka in hunter x hunter weird character, weird motivations, creepy. I like that story arc, the only things I genuinely cringed at and really did not like was him turning into a dragon, that to me was entirely stupid, he is a buffed reaper, im sure something in that could have gotten him to us. A dragon was really stupid, and there may be valid reason etc but it just feels wholly bizarre and out of place for him. Eating a crystal and becoming a dragon- like a primal? How, who prayed for him? I'm still lost on this idea because it just removed the entire idea of primals, or am I missing something?
Follow that with an amazing solo duty, but then the really jarring and unnecessary punch up, especially my little lala punching him in the face was super weird.

What you are missing is that Zenos IS Shinryu. And he not only absorbed the remaining Aether of the Mothercrystal but it is implied he ate the Fathercrystal of Zodiark as well. With this abundance of Aether he was able to transform once more.

Post above me spells it out, but you might want to rewatch the end of Stormblood (unless you story skipped).

At one point Zenos captured the primal Shinryu and used Empire shenanigans to take over its body. The Shinryu finale in Stormblood is the mega battle Zenos constantly whines about wanting to redo.

He is essentially like Shiva in that with enough aether he can become the primal form.

But besides personally I like Zenos even back in Stormblood.
For me personally not every Baddie needs to have a complicated backstory or complex motives.

For EW he was basically my palette cleanser, the offset to all the happy/power of friendship and bunneh stuff that was going on I guess XD.

Somehow I doubt Zenos is actually dead. We didn't even blast him with aether, WoL just punched him to death. Given he's Ascian-like his soul should easily be able to repossess another vessel, as anticlimactic as that is.

That's true. If you remember our duel with Elidibus in Zenos's body at Ghimlyt Dark, we seem to kill Elidibus, his body seems to fall dead but then he immediately revives and continues the fight, basically repossessing the same body. Zenos could do that as well. Plus he's a Reaper, so that too could help him revive/survive since we know from the Reaper questline that the avatar/voidsent could save its master from death.
