Proving grounds happened in MoP, btwOhhh...you want players to "sit a test" before doing content? Like the UTTERLY failed "Proving Grounds" in WOD? The one that helped lose them HALF their playerbase in six months? The one that had players discriminated against and unable to do Heroic dungeons because they 'failed their test"?
I remember that. It was a sick joke...and as had been pointed out REPEATEDLY, it didnt "simulate" a real dungeon because
1 The NPCs were a joke , I did the tank one and the NPC was saying "get these adds off me"..only there werent any, Id killed them all.
2. If you failed it sent you back to the very beginning, it was supposed to 'simulate a real dungeon":..tell me, how many dungeons in WOW or FF 14 when you wipe on one boss, do you have to go back and kill them all again to get to the one you wiped on?
None.
3. It was one of Blizzards gates to content, one of MANY failures over the years, and also was an unannounced gate to do Legendary items.
I remember it well, I remember it alienated so many they quit and never returned.
Haha you are right. It was filled with pandas wasnt it. And MoP was my favorite expac too.
edit: The heroic gate was in WoD it seems. Just looked it up on wowhead rq. It showed up in MoP and was used as a gate for LFD/LFR in WoD.
(I guess these forums have a daily limit?)
Oh for sure. Getting BC timewalking sometimes got intense when you would get heroic dungeons what had nasty curses that the healer couldn't get rid of and mages no longer had decurse. Blizz def messed up big time with some of those prunings.

WoW has definitely had that issue elsewhere in certain then-uncompletable questlines and in the active mitigation checks on certain bosses (RIP Brewmaster in Skyhold after Ironskin Brew was removed, for instance) -- oversights are to WoW as Monkey's Paw outcomes are to XIV, after all -- but PGs were not one of those problem areas in regard to lost spells.

Ahh, yes, that playerbase who partake less often in the equivalents to Extreme or Savage and are generally less logs-minded than XIV's are somehow exclusively elitist and despite a tremendous portion of XIV's players, cumulatively and since 1.x, having also played WoW, only now will they suddenly have an impact on the community... and somehow single-handedly destroy the game. Naturally.

With Ying theirs yang, and I don’t condone casutic behavior but honestly which side would you be one, one that wants improvements or one that desires stagnation. For ever elitist comes toxic causal that desire the game to be in a position of stasis rather than..idk expanding? This wow refugee influx will be death of ff14 in 2 3 years , they will bringtheir shit system , shit elitism mentality here

The game has been EXPANDING story wise ,Game has been steady growing in players and getting more and more core players with the current format. We have been loyal to this game, this influx will consume this game like a parasite and once it becomes soulless gear grind they will be happy We causal left wow elitism shit and find our nice corner here place here,.With Ying theirs yang, and I don’t condone casutic behavior but honestly which side would you be one, one that wants improvements or one that desires stagnation. This game isn't just yours, though. The game isn't made only of "casuals that left wow", more history and more players isn't variety in content. Plenty of people with a lot of different tastes are loyal to the game and allowed to give feedback on it instead of treating it as something perfect that should keep following the same formula ad infinitum.
Also, the game was open to you - but other wow players will ruin it? Please, drop that. You played that game as well, you're not better than the rest of the population that play or played it. Just because you didn't vibe with the gear grind doesn't make you special, nor a situation of them vs us. You don't speak for all casuals, I play this casually for years and still would love to see more variety. There's no "we" in your sentence, there's the personal opinion of someone with snowflake syndrome.
You realize an expanding story does not necessitate that XIV doesn't expand gameplay-wise, right?
I'm not sure how attempting to shut down, rather than merely vet and engage with, any conversation regarding potential improvements should count as "loyalty".We have been loyal to this game
Where you gate even the slightest request for additional modes of midcore content or increased content longevity through player-chosen difficulty levels behind "haVe yOu evEn cleaRed Ultimate yeT?" That must be a comfy corner indeed. We causal left wow elitism shit and find our nice corner here place here,.
