Gimp the class to make the job seem better by comparison. That would be lame, very lame.
It's not even that the video may be inaccurate, it's the fact that we can't exactly judge the effectiveness of BLM when we haven't even experienced everything (or anything, for that matter) for ourselves. All we have to go on is a secondhand video and a few "factual" tidbits here and there from a development version. This is hardly an effective basis to draw any hard conclusions.I will seriously shut up about it, and ask for your forgiveness if I am wrong about it. But how radically different can the video be in 4 days from the patch?
If I get proven wrong, and the mp cost is lowered, damage is vastly improved from Black Mage I will be ok with that. The video however doesn't show it.
Nothing will be clear until the playerbase has a little time to play with BLM and test out whatever various strategies may be viable for the new skillset.
That's what SE is doing.
How is preparing, planing and expected outcome have anything to do with the Community blowing things out of proportion before even the patch is released? :/
i'm not disagreeing, but the same thing happened when we got darkhold. the classes got changed so we had at look of things being harder when we actually were just weaker by comparison.
i'm not saying that's what's going on just that there's multiple things to look at and we can't check them until patch hits and we can start testing.

Convert and Ancient Magic as well as Sleepga are quite invaluable. Convert directly increases DPS over THM.
Also, let's not forget that the BLM in that video was in THM gear - no AF. My gil is on the AF being very OP compared to any and every class gear in game atm. Why? Because if they get the cross-class limitations right, they can make the AF best in slot undisputed when on job and still keep gear balance - because AF is job specific.
Then 5 more people will make threads about it and SE will change it. Speculating from a video that was only meant to show the spell cancellation from moving and not the damage from the new spells won't change anything.
How do you know things are being blown out of proportion before the patch is ever released?
