Oh it is. At worst you have to be in there the whole 20 minutes, but they usually finish in 10-12 min for half an EXP bar. It's always worth it to do.
Please show support for chocobo boots to be added -> http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/323512-Suggestion-for-an-item-to-be-added-to-gold-saucer-Chocobo-Boots
Unhappy with how they implemented Mahjong? -> http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/381358-Mahjong-is-the-most-depressing-mini-game-you-ve-added-to-XIV
Exactly. I don't really care about xp per time spent actually in there. I only care about the amount of xp I can get via the roulette any given day, and Castrum is lacking. Over the course of a week it's actually a lot of xp lost compared to Praet.I leave whenever I get Castrum. The EXP it gives is awful and I can't browse the Internet or watch YouTube or TV while doing it. It definitely needs a buff. Maybe not as much XP as Prae since it is shorter, but the fact that you have to pay attention and move around a lot more (Prae literally has you in front of the bosses for everything past the Magitek Armor) makes it muss less desirable for me and many others.

If you get Castrum its a bust. You might as well eat the penalty due to the difference compared to Prae.
Normal Raid Roulette is also a waste of time as it gives less xp than a fate even with being the adventurer in need.
Guildheist roulette is also a waste unless you are going for the challenge log but even then you could get more xp by fate grinding in that time.
Leveling roulette is only good if the dungeon is close to your level and you are the adventurer in need. Otherwise again fate grinding may be a better option.
50/60/70/80 roulette is a joke.
Alliance raid roulette is 20-25% of a level depending on which one you get but if you get any crystal tower raids then it is a good source of time.
Trial Roulette- Again depends on the trial. If you get any of the new trials due to their length the xp is not worth it.
Frontline- Perhaps the best source of xp for time out of all the roulettes.
I have been doing alliance raid roulette and MSQ roulette for guaranteed one level a day.
Only reason to even do roulettes now is for farming tomes at 90. Its a waste to use them for exp especially 70-90. Bozja hands down is faster than anything else and the most current level dungeon is nearly the same amount of exp as doing roulette, so if I'm gonna suffer through tam-tara I'm gonna get tomes out of it because its not worth it for the exp because the bonus exp is barely anything.

It does feel a whole lot slower, across different characters and jobs. I used to be able to get at least one level or so a day with the roulette options and PVP, now it's not even enough for that.
Let's not exagerate either. Frontline/Alliance/Leveling alone should give you a bit more than a level together. If you add MSQ roulette on top you should be close to 1.5 lvl from roulettes a day (if you get shitty castrum, more if you get Praet).
So for reference, i just did a MSQ Castrum roulette at lvl82.
It gave 35% of a level. The same amount as a leveling roulette, which is complete and utter garbage.
I'll continue fishing for Praet.
Somewhat related to the topic but when did they get rid of dungeon mobs giving exp?
Castrum is most certainly not worth it any more for all the locked in cutscenes, braindead cid, and annoying black screening in the middle of pulls.
Complete waste of time when the XP reward isn't there.
