Why no new servers? Not just this launch but the last 8 months?

Yes, COVID makes travel awkward but the countries that house the DC's have been travel-worthy. Some of the devs would be willing to self-isolate in order to complete the task, and they doubtless have local teams anyway removing that issue.

I don't mind the queues, after the nightmare that was WoD's launch I am not in the slighest fussed by things I completely prepared for. This game is booming like crazy and I love it!

Blaming COVID makes no sense because that would assume literally noone is working on the current server issues in the US and especially the EU.

Covid is absolutely a factor. The world is constantly shutting down borders, limiting access, and making the trickle of goods even slower. It might not be the only reason, but it absolutely is a factor. If you can't see how Covid has slowed down the worlds shipping and supply, then I don't think you understand business.

I agree. With the influx of new players from the continuing WoW exodus especially, SE should have been more than prepared for increased volume already. This launch should have been smooth. COVID, chip shortages, supply issues, whatever excuse they use, it's unacceptable that the queues are this high, especially for subscription players.

Have you attempted to buy anything that uses semiconductors in the past year? In fact do you have any idea how badly shipping lanes have been screwed since covid started?

Can't buy what isn't there. Wait times on even some low end servers we'v ordered paying well more than what they cost has been 6 months to a year)

And if Sony wanted enough PS5s for everyone who wanted to own one they could get them but they very clearly can't. Square is competing against other hardware manufacturers. They're competing against other companies that need server infrastructure. They're competing against CAR MANUFACTURERS. Get out of here with this backwards "But they can afford it" nonsense because no amount of money thrown at a server manufacturer can make port employees magically appear. Many ships, which these things are freighted on, have been stuck outside of their destination ports for MONTHS because of a lack of dock workers from both strikes for better treatment and pay and due to covid making people unable to work.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing people coming out of the woodworks to defend SE on something like this, when I said "Poor Disadvantaged Multi-Billion Dollar SquareEnix" I meant it with a silent /s but damn, some people take it (and the convenient excuses SE & corporates make) seriously.
