Am I bad for preferring White Mage?

Is it about that other thread asking which healer people find easiest to play with? You're not bad to prefer something, like anything at all, and WHM isn't bad because it's approachable. People playing more "complex" Jobs obviously feel an even bigger rush when their opener or clutch pays off, but that by no means gives them the right to say they're objectively better just because of their Job choice.

Play what you want and play it well. Mastering something you like is easier and more fun.

I don't think many people have said "WHM is for noobs".

Most of the comments on WHM being "bad" are from past WHM mains who enjoyed the class, wanted to master it but as they got better at the game they discovered WHM doesn't have enough depth and has multiple conflicting issues. They just want the class to feel enjoyable and rewarding at all levels of gameplay.

WHM fills a gameplay preference for players who prefer a focus on raw healing and dps without juggling cards or pets, in the same way SAM and BLM satisfy players who just want raw dps. The difference is BLM and SAM are engaging, well designed classes that are very rewarding to master, while WHM doesn't really do anything special even if you play extremely well. It doesn't shine at anything.

There's nothing wrong with liking WHM. Lots of people here like WHM. I used to main it myself at one point. They just know it could be even better and want to push feedback for that.

It's fine, good even. I see so many ppl max leveling all classes and lording it like it's some kind of actual accomplishment (Amaro mount is the only reason lol). Anyways, I see far too many folks that do not focus, and are tolerable at best on any given class/job. I'd much rather focus and master one, and be gloriously epic at it (well, as glorious and epic as I'm capable of :/). For me it's SCH, for you it's WHM. I'm fine with all manner of gameplay within reason but new players are not the only reason for "DF hell", lots of all-80's out there just blindly smashing buttons...

WHM's hella fun. So is WAR. Neither one is hard to play. I love playing both.

I will say, I've been playing this game for eight years and I've never once felt that people honestly disapprove of me playing these Jobs. Like, not even once.

My preference for pretty much every role is the "simple" job. I main Warrior, have mained Dragoon for years prior and my go to Healer and Caster are White Mage and Red Mage, respectively. I've never had the slightest problem getting into content, PFs or statics.

So, no. Don't worry about it in the slightest. Play what you enjoy and strive to be good at it. You'll offer more to your team playing a job your enjoy than forcing yourself to play the "better" job.

When people criticise aspects of certain jobs, that doesn't necessarily meant they suck but rather they feel improvement can be made. I've been quite critical of WHM's new additions in Endwalker; specifically Lilybell because I worry it won't be nearly as useful as the dev team thinks. None of that criticism is to say WHM won't be able to handle content though. It absolutely will.

Yes enjoying WHM definitely and objectively makes you a terrible player as well as a terrible person.
You should feel ashamed to enjoy a job in this game. In fact changing role wouldn't be enough to make an amend for your dispicable joy of playing WHM. You should uninstalle that game and reconsider your life choice and the impact you have on others.
Liking WHM... what's next? Enjoying the game?
