I believe this could wrap up the story in 6.0

7.0 could be the start of something completely new. Possibly going to the new world, new starter cities, new textures etc.

We could see them creating something new that wouldnt pull from the old spaghetti code.

Perhaps Yoshi just wants to get away from the rinse and repeat story we have had and finally end it.

I'd be down for that. I'd also be down for more interactive and immersive side-quests that don't revolve on fetching things, but rather on learning about that particular part of the world, and playing out stories that are not necessarily linked to the MSQ. FFXIV doesn't feel like an open world to me because everything is very linear. You've got the msq, then courrier 'side quests', and I then guess beast tribes? But at the end of the day, the only thing that has an actual plot and characters you can get attached to is the MSQ. Maybe in 7.0 + you could just adventure, do quests all over the world without a specific order, and slowly build the bigger picture of the new plot.

What about levels? When is the cap the ultimate cap? :P It is realistic to aspire to level 200?

The only other MMO I've ever played is ORS/RS3, and I've also never capped anything on there, so if anyone else could enlighten me on how the other old classic MMOs keep progressing with time... Is there ever a limit in sight? I'm curious.

They are PVP based or used horizontal progression where you collect different items and armor sets and used them in different circumstances. A design flaw of XIV is that it’s vertical without gear swapping so the bosses have to always be stronger than the last tier which means armor has to be stronger which means eventually the players need to be stronger. At some point number will cease to mean anything and they’ll do a stat squash. The short answer is that any mmo, Square will keep churning out content until the players leave.

It's for sure going to end the storyline in 6.0 because if you play thought 5.3... the ending shows "The final tale in the chapter of this star" So it would be weird if 6.0 didn't end it and it actually took two chapters, chapters being a stand in for expansions to finish it. Now there will possibly be some lingering plot threads that get finished later on in 7.0 but 6.0 is deff setting up the confontation of garlemold (what better time to invade then when the country is destabilized due to civil war?) and zodiark...

Also I could be wrong since most fights are always ended in a trial but image IF zenos was powerful enough to pull the shinryu trick with zodiark... but we also did the same (willingly with her add) with hydaelyn and we have a 1v1 ala sapphire weapon type battle. I seriously doubt they would make zenos able to do it for zodiark, but would be cool way to do it if they did.

I am most curious to see how it plays out cause hydaelyn is not as strong as she was before, and zodiark while not restored fully has regained strength I think, enough to challange hydaelyn even tho at this point... zodiark is a primal with no people really left to watch over and protect as was the desire.

Can't find the article/link, but you can check the reddit discord. They have interview/translations channel and I think they put it there.

Basically yoshi-p said there's one mystery in 6.0 that's the start of the next arc and players would think "you're going that far??!". For now most people speculate it as we're going to dragon star (even though it's already destroyed?) or omega homeworld, since they're.... far.

But honestly I hope we don't get more dragon story, it's done to death. I'd rather they focus more on other continents in hydaelyn or even the Sound.

A new story will begin. Some crazy stuff I can think about:

- The Allagan Empire reborn.
- The Rokan Empire was looking for a way to travel between worlds and now they are a menace to all the worlds because Hydaelyn and Zodiac are not more.
- A new entity more powerful that any primal, some kind of the he is to Primal what Primals are to the Beast Tribes.
