Cubsbane explained it well enough - it's useful in case someone's primary language isn't English (or whatever alternative, depending on the DC), but it is also just a quicker way to type out what's needed. It can also help people to find the specific skill name, as saying very generalized things like "tank stance" can confuse newer players (for instance), whereas auto-translating the actual skill name is more helpful.

Whether or not someone actually takes the advice is irrelevant. Auto-translate is there because it's quick, useful, and can support multiple languages on the off chance someone's client isn't set to the DC's primarily-used language, or they don't understand the region's primary language. People who won't take advice, won't take it regardless of whether you use auto-translate or type out a long sentence.

Which is why people who take something as inane as a quick method of typing as 'annoying' are absolutely ridiculous. Deciding to do the very opposite of what's being asked of you, on top of it, is literally just acting like a whiny child throwing a tantrum.

Just got out of a Sastasha with a guy that I'm pretty sure was trying to manipulate and use the new "code of conduct" to get him a victim.
I was tanking, they were bard, and the character I was on was an alt, first dungeon they had been in outside of a guild hest, but they pulled immediately, it's cool it's Sastasha. I let them take their first few licks, and began to sprint to stay ahead of them, no comments made.

Anyhow, the guy waits til the end of the dungeon, and pulls the entire last room, straight to the boss room, and I watched him, he ran straight into the barrier, and back out, and got everyone killed. Healer and other DPS were still in cut scene, so he goes "LAG".. "I lagged out" repeatedly. We all respawn, he does the same thing again, while everyone else is still getting back to the boss chamber, pulls that whole room again, gets the other dps killed, and himself, says something like Lag again, Garsh sorry. Which is a complete lie. I've noticed an uptrend in just kind of veiled idiocy, where people HOPE you say something to them, so they can 'report' you for daring to even suggest they shouldn't do something. I know that's not the spirit of the rules of the code of conduct, but that won't stop stupid from being stupid either.

Oh yeah, the poor healer was like "My bad" and I was like no, it's not. I think it's kind of comical in a way, like I've got weird hobbies, but neckbeards gonna take the cake always.

This, 100%. I had downtime to be able to type out my first response to them, but that’s only because I touch type at a pretty fast WPM and we were right about to enter a mini boss. Otherwise, I had to use auto-translate to be able to both 1. get my advice out in a way that could be 100% understood just in case, 2. get it out ASAP because we were in the middle of two packs of mobs and they were single-targetting everyone for regens, and 3. get it out in a somewhat officially sanctioned manner so as to avoid ANY ambiguity about politeness.

Deliberately hindering or sabotaging runs is against the new ToS since it affects others gameplay experience. If he was reported, a GM investigated and it clearly wasn't lag, he'd be in trouble.

The new ToS is not a free pass to doing whatever you like and no one can say anything mean to you. Some of these players who try to use the ToS to grief others are going to find it backfires.

Absolutely. I however wasn't too bugged, my heart went out for the little sprout Healer who legit thought it was their fault.

"20 minutes is a long time for a dungeon, if you double pulled it would be closer to 15."

I sort of agree, which is why I lvl tanks with trusts and bozja to avoid doing randoms. But this was about 20 mins single pulling vs 45 mins single pulling, not 15 min double pull vs 20 min single pull.

To add to the thread though: Had a healer a while back give me an "lol" after I used lb on trash mobs after first boss of mt gulg. Drg didn't use it on boss so I used it after, making sure to wait for the tank to stop first(really wish ranged phys lb could be free aimed). Being ff he said nothing else till I asked him what was wrong. I guess he thought it was funny that I would use it on trash and he felt it was a waste. I explained that as long as you use it at around the time you get it you can get about 3 off in the dungeon. Didn't say anything really after that about it.

Honestly this kind of stuff happens every once in while but way too much imo. Is there some reason people refuse to use the LB in dungeons outside of the last 3% of the last boss? I understand not wanting to break a combo for it or stop in the middle of a burst phase or something, but not use it at all? If i don't use LB(playing healer or tank) it just doesn't get used it seems.

had a very… unusual experience in mt. gulg just yesterday. the cast is me, a tank and healer whose jobs are unimportant, and a summoner. i notice not too long in that the trash packs seem to be taking a while to die. wondering why, i look over the party and decide to keep an eye on what everybody’s casting. from this, i learn two things:

    1. the summoner does not have any egis out. they are not using the main gimmick of their job at all. eventually, they pull out one, but it’s on the third to last trash pull before the final boss. and it’s ifrit, not garuda.

    2. they are casting exactly one visible spell. and that spell… is ruin 3. nothing else. (looking at the battle logs, other than a few bio 3s and an addle, it seems like ruin 3, was, in fact, the only thing they were casting at all.)

nobody (myself included) voted to kick. i don’t know if the others hadn’t noticed, or if we had all just silently resigned ourselves to a very long mt. gulg (in the end it took a little over a half hour).

Clearly a SCH main disguised as a SMN.

At that point even trust runs are faster than what you've gone through.
