Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

I agree. Great Lengths is so FFXII viera styled it’s the only one I’m interested in… so far they’ve only shown off short haircuts & it’s making me nervous.

Perhaps they implemented the short hair first because it’s easier, then they’ll progress to the harder ones? Not sure if that’s how it works but that’s where my mind went.

Maybe? You'd think it would have been harder to get the 2b or Lightning hair to play nice with the ears than Great Lengths though, it's literally just a long side part with no bits, bobs or frills.

The fact that they opened with "we know there have been requests for this and we have started work on it" doesn't bode well though, trying not to be too negative but it's such a random selection of styles and I'd really hate it if that was it.

Did they say only 6 hairstyles for females? That is not enough. And why those?

There's a good chance that there's more and the just showed those that are more popular. Sitting out there showing something like 30 already existing haircuts (if they unlocked all of them) would a bit weird.

That said I guess we should be ready for everything so only thing we can do at this point is wait for 6.0 release to check how many hairstyles they de-facto unlocked.

I'm glad viera is getting more hairstyles. I kinda expected them to have all hairstyles available, so I'm glad to hear males won't have any limitations, but I hope female viera will have more hairs than the ones shown, and I hope they expand this so that eventually they have all hairstyles!!

Remember the only reason you're playing Viera is because SE heard it's player base and responded. Viera might not have existed in FFXIV if it were otherwise. They took into consideration the feedback and desire for the race and the players love for Fran. I'm sure the two races were an after thought and pushed through for us.

I'm not so sure on Hrothgar. Yoshi-P had stated that he wanted a playable beast race as far back as ARR (the models eventually became Lupin). Hrothgar were probably only a matter of time, Viera were definitely added because of players begging for them.

I really hope there is more than just the 6 they showed. Most of the ones they revealed are ugly.

Femvieras own hairstyles already clip with their ears and shoulders so what adjustments are really needed with the plait or great lengths?

I hope theres more or that others come out by patch... I get 2B and lightning being popular requests, but 9s and the old gold saucer hair? Over the cash shop cuts, the gyr abanian plait, or even the pineapple ponytail???
