My Horrible experience with most (not all) WoW players in FFXIV so far

Give them time to adjust. I was a former WoW player before moving to FFXIV(I started in the middle stormblood though).

It's more of a scale of those willing to adapt and those to stubborn to change their outlook.

Those to stubborn will eventually migrate away to other games.

Don't let their views tarnish your enjoyment and add more negativity to the run.

Because after that run. You may never see them again anyway.

I agree that there has been an increase in the number of WoW/Troll account in the past year of the game since FF14 gained so much traction and that WoW is losing popularity. Maybe even more in the last 3 month since we are in the content drought and a lot of people are waiting for EW to resub.

My experience has been that the sprout ex-wow healers are already better at pushing their buttons than the ffxiv healers that have been doing expert dungeons since 2.0

I was a WoW player 4 months ago. I only say facts like I'm "tanking" as White mage, or teach people how to play like "did you turn on Ironwill?" or "cannot heal, use extra button" on The Great Hunt for phase 2.

As a former WoW player i have also experienced how toxic former WoW players can be in this game, as WoW has declined and ffxiv has gained more people that mentality and attitude is making its way over. It happens but it shouldnt, ive played this game since launch on another old account which i can no longer access but it was never like this, granted i played off and on both games but the reason i quit WoW was before all the other stuff recently happened but even then the environment and general mentality of that game was extremely toxic where as ffxiv was always a friendly helpful community. And from first hand experience i can def tell you its not Supay, they have been nothing but helpful to me in game and have always been super friendly and a joy to be around.

Yeah... they do actually. They use WoW jargon.

Stuff like referring to their characters as a toon.
Glamour as Transmog
Provoke as Taunt etc.

There's a few more, but it's usually fairly obvious when someone is from WoW if they do much talking at all. Outside of dungeons in social settings they'll also usually say things like, "I've got 15 years experience tanking. I tanked in WoW." etc.

Of course, just because they use the jargon doesn't mean they're being jerks or bad or anything, but man does the jargon drive me up the wall.

Also FWIW, I'm pretty sure the WoW Refugees of prior waves outnumbered the intrinsic FF playerbase sometime around mid Stormblood. They've been coming in for years now, and the initial FFXIV populace really wasn't all that big. It's gotta be something like, people whose first MMO is XIV and WoW players as the biggest sections of the playerbase, with legacy, FFXI vets, and other MMO enthusiasts as the smallest sections of the pie.

FYI I started calling my character in an online game a "toon" in The Sims Online in 2002.

I used a program called Transmorgrifier to create items others could download for The original Sims game. It overlaid new graphics on the old objects so calling all glams transmog clicked with my brain.

I don't tank nor do I care what they call it. All I want to know is are they grabbing the MoB off me.

I have healed in 4 different MMOs so yeah I have 15+ years of experience.

Making assumptions based on jargon just isn't a very accurate way to determine where they came from. Now in my case yes I did play WoW. Though I am NOT part of the current refugee wave having arrived in FFXIV full time several years ago.
