Extreme over correction in ToS? New ToS is going to kill pugging

I swear some of these points they make are ripped near identically from a thread on r/ffxivdiscussion on reddit, namely the thread discussing the rule changes in general... I actually think I know the comment it was ripped from. Will edit it in if I find it.

EDIT: it's not a rip from one specific comment, but rather borrowing from several existing comments.

And the Op here does make legit points, but I don't know if it's a case of nothing is new under the sun or if they're just taking comments made elsewhere and reframing them in a provocative manner. Or just stating them on their own and letting infamy do the work.

Ever considered that I am a concerned player who actually cares about this game? As you can see I am not the only one that thought about these issues though and these are LEGITIMATE concerns that people have about the new ToS.

I don't want to see this community turn to a carebare zone. I want this game to become like WoW where people are not afraid to express their opinions unless those opinions go against a certain country.

Yeah it's good on you to want to make these points, and I agree with you on some of these issues (namely that you shouldn't baby people and need to be able to call things out when shit's going bad), but you of all people should know the reputation you've gathered and how harmful it can be to any points you try to make, serious or no.

It's also a bigger help to pile all the concerns in one thread rather then spread them out across several, as the JP forum does the former and the only major NA concerns that really got listened to were Male Viera and that one big thread about stalkers... though pressure on the latter moreso came from other social media sites like twitter.

If you're worried about rules changing so you have to speak to people politely, it really says more about you.

While MPK may be a known troll, their point in this instance isn't inaccurate. How is answering "They DRG keeps messing up Lions" impolite or banworthy when it's literally addressing the problem? All this encourages is even more quiet disbands because no one will want to actually say why we're wiping.

I see nothing in the updated TOS that says you cannot call someone out on bad play - I do however so many examples on how NOT to call them out for bad play.

As with many things in life it is not what you say - it is how you say it.

Be constructive and if someone says sorry that's an acknowledgement they screwed up so there is no need to continue pressing them.

It's literally always been bannable, but many just didn't believe it. When people gave their horror stories of being banned, others would suggest that they were "exaggerating" or that the ban had to have been for "something else". This is just clarification of the rules that have always been in place. As I said in the other thread, it being clarified is a good thing, but it will now probably encourage others to report more often for these sort of behaviors, since it's now set in stone.

Oh man playing this game without reading, understanding, and memorizing the ToS is a very dangerous game.

Being a decent human being and considerate to those you interact with? The fact that SE is this bold to ask this from you, and you have this kind of attitude towards it?

Personally I see nothing wrong with this...I try my best to treat EVERYONE in this game with respect we ALL deserve. Even IF they call me a filthy casual or boot me from the PF group. I suppose my bark is a little thicker then theirs, and move on. Not everyone in this game is going to be pleasant to be around, or some people just flat out are unable to find happiness in a video game, and can only throw shade at others that don't play "optimally". Just makes me worry about their mental health.

It's a service you pay for...if you can't agree to the terms...then the problem is that YOU literally see no problem in belittling or calling someone out. This....is....for....you.....

Those of us that don't see a issue with this will probably NEVER break the ToS, because we don't call people out, we don't belittle or go off on them. Empathy goes a LONG way when knowing there is another person on the other end, and putting yourself in their shoes. Sit in on ANY HR manager required training and you'll have a better understanding of choosing your words and inflection MUCH more.

Being a decent and kind human being isn't something that should be asked of us...the fact the SE has to come down to this level truly SHOWS how much they care about their community. And for that I thank them for taking this first step to pushing back toxic underbelly before it becomes to much to handle.

This isn't for me.....and I find nothing wrong with it.
