Where a group sits there and passive aggressive or aggressivly targets someone until they leave or say something and both being against the rules doesnt encourage civil community it encourages a majority that its okay to gang up and basicly hold someone has a silent hostage which ive personally delt with in alot of games..

Its the same idelogy of if ur in an abusive situation you have to stay and not say anything.

So, legitimately curious. If they had just kicked you without saying a word, you would have been ok with that? Because based on what I'm reading and understanding, it seems as long as you don't say anything, you are fine to kick if you want. I get the DF is one thing, but I feel like exceptions should be made for PF, because you are actively choosing the group to participate in. If I'm in a farm party, it sounds like my options for dealing with someone who keeps messing up is to either:

A.) "It seems like some people need to practice more. I suggest possibly joining a learning group to get more comfortable", and then removing them, or just go

B.) Kick them without saying a word, and thus means I can't be reported, because I don't have to give a reason for removing someone from the PF group.

Yes actually. If I had been kicked and wanted to know I could tell and ask why, if I didn't want to hunt them down to ask, leave it at that. But being singled out, and attacked, personally puts me on the defensive, to where I feel like I HAVE to argue back to defend myself until one of us leaves, or someone wins. Since it's a public thing in front of everyone else and not just between me and that person.

Like I said, just don't be uncivilised, I'm not sure why that is so difficult. If you're ganged up on then everyone involved is more than reasonably liable to be reported in that situation. I never said it didn't, nor doesn't exist. I'm simply going against what people in this thread are implying, and that is, that you can no longer open your mouth without fear of being reported for harassment, which is simply false.

I'm not saying you sit there, be silent and let yourself be the object of abuse against a gang mentality. You report all those involved, and leave the instance, it's a simple as that. Jesus Christ.

My point being, there's a clear difference between blatant criticism, and singling an individual out with little of nothing constructive to contribute, and encouraging a player, and offering some advice.

Similarly, if you don't like a duty, you give it 10-15 minutes until sufficient time has elapsed or until the group has been adequately gauged as being capable or not of clearing the duty, after that you do a vote abandon. If that falls on deaf ears then you can leave the duty. To be quite frank if you're signing up for a roulette, especially mentor roulette then you should be more than capable of giving yourself that much time.

Reading through this thread makes me glad they implemented these changes, I don't understand what's so hard about not being a dick. They don't take away your ability to give suggestions to player who are doing mechanics wrong, they are punishing you for being a dick and not be constructive about it. These changes don't mean you have to take whatever another person is throwing at your or griefing the party, doesn't mean you have to cover in fear when you see a sprout icon either. Damn the absolute doom and gloom in this thread is honestly concerning.

And biting back or being uncivilised is an equally perfectly reasonable thing to do?, despite the very fact this exhibited behaviour is more than likely going to spur a rouse, or encourage those involved since they're seemingly getting response out of you.

The rules were excessive before and are even more excessive now. Nothing really changes though. Just avoid talking in public chats. Like almost everybody does. That's the first thing I would tell every new player.

You can report people after you leave. I have never bothered with reporting DURING an instance since I have a log of what they said with their full name and server attached.

These rules are easy to follow if you remember a few things. Don't target/call out anyone unless it's positive; don't give commands; explain your request; don't disrupt someone else's game play.

The last part also means others aren't allowed to do that to you. For example, Aiding the enemy / Uncooperative behaviour / Lethargic behaviour makes it clear that "you pull it, you tank it" or letting someone die by not healing them is forbidden. It also forbids going afk at the entrance in order to get kicked and avoid the 30 minute penalty. Obstructing Gameplay Using Combat means you can't use Rescue or Shirk to kill someone.

Things you can say:
- Please do X so Y doesn't happen (Please stun the add to stop it from casting and wiping us.)
- Doing X will result in Y (If we don't do enough damage to the add, it will become immune to stuns and make us run off the platform.)
- Can we do X? (Can we go faster/slower?)
- Could you do X? (Could you take aggro?)
- It doesn't seem like everyone is prepared to clear this duty.
- Does anyone have questions?
- Are you familiar with the strategy we are using?
- I suggest updating your gear. X is a cheap/easy way to get it.
- Unfortunately you do not fulfill the requirements for joining this Party Finder group. Our strategy requires everyone to use Final Sting on the last boss but you haven't learned that spell yet.
