As a console player it can be difficult to chat, even a burden. I don’t care enough to become friendly with everyone I meet and will probably never meet again. I’m not running roulettes to build relationships. I’m not running them so others can feel popular. I’m there for tomes, not friends.
As far as macroing a greeting, I’m not wasting space on my hot bar, again, so you feel special. Again, it’s a burden to go through menus, get passed my crafting macros, all to say hello to someone to make them feel valuable.
As an introvert, I’m not playing games to make conversation with strangers. I play with my spouse, talk to my brother in law, a few members of my fc. If I wanted to be social, there’s many social media sites or chat sites that are specifically geared for those interactions. FFXIV is not made to force people to talk to each other. No one should be expected or forced to talk to people. Accept that and move on

This is flat out false. Right here you are ignoring the part of my post where some players can't type. That's my primary problem with your posts. Did you ever consider that for some players (people on console) that typing could take a while and it's just easier to show you what they want rather than ask? Same thing for people who get scared/nervous to talk. When you say "people need to talk it out" you need to STOP ignoring that not everyone can or wants to talk the way you describe. That's how you are disrespecting the needs of your party and a large chunk of the player base. The fact you expect a DPS to ask you if they can pull is ridiculous. You should just be pulling it off them anyway. It's your one purpose in a party, to hold agro. Now stop making excuses to not do that.

Regardless of this conversation going on in this thread, if someone is playing FF14 on console, they should really invest in a wireless keyboard, they aren't that expensive and can be bought at any big box store. If they can't afford a keyboard, then they got more serious issues they need to deal with than playing FF14.

How many console games require a keyboard? Maybe its not exactly worth the investment. A keyboard for 1 game while pc players, it comes with the hardware. I have a keyboard. I just can’t be bothered to grab it to talk to random i will probably never meet again. I doubt people don’t have them simply because they can’t afford them. It’s because its not worth adding hardware for a singular game if you aren’t there to be social in the first place. Unless you are raiding on console, I don’t see socializing being necessary.
Also, maybe people aren’t talking because they are in voice chat with people they actually want to speak to. Just because people aren’t talking to you (in the general sense, not you specifically thamorian), doesn’t mean they aren’t bein social. They just choose to speak to people important to them. Randoms in duties aren’t necessarily important to an individual

That's not a fair expectation. I've had to learn very harshly how much I'm actually allowed to expect from players in this game. Talking is the bottom of the barrel.

I play on PC with Keyboard and mouse. Outside of the initial "Hello" I really find I can't talk during a dungeon. I simply cannot type and run/cast/heal at the same time. It is not disrespect. It is simple inability to do it and my job in the dungeon be it DPS or Heals.

Now as a healer I have been known to stand still long enough to say "Slow down please" or "OOM" if necessary but in those situations someone is going to die if I don't do it. Someone MIGHT die if I do stop but I will risk it.

My highest lvl healer is only 42ish. I do not have my full healing kit. Though I am careful to conserve mana, if I have a tank consistently pulling too much (or the wrong thing, I am looking at you bees) I can get overwhelmed. If the tank is squishy but thinks he/she is god I will OOM. Now I admit I am new at healing and my skills are improving. I just am not there yet where problems never happen.

A good tank will see I am struggling or about to go OOM and I won't need to say anything. They are watching my bars and react without being told.

I had one wonderful tank that when I said at the beginning of the dungeon with my hello that I was a new healer and hadn't healed that dungeon before said "Ok we go slower and see how it goes." Then later when I handled his pulls he asked me if it was ok to try and go bigger. I said "I can give it a try." He pulled much larger and I pulled it off but really struggled. For the rest of the dungeon he found a middle point between the two which challenged me but did not overwhelm. I really wish I could have commended him more than once. What a perfect way to help a new healer learn.

Socialization does happen in this game. It doesn't HAVE to happen in dungeons though.

There are more methods of communication than just typing. This is the same thing I was just saying to Samsara. You can't expect people to type that they want to go faster. Particularly when they can just move or use an ability which clearly signals "can we do more please?"
