I felt really bad for the tank since they were really patient with said healer, never said a word, just silently dealt with it while doing their job

The reason they were kicked? Harassment. Yup, the tank who never said a word the entire run is apparently so guilty of harassment the ninja clicked yes super quickly

But I have been playing for two years now on multiple alts and have dabbled in every class so I would have an idea what each class is supposed to do.

Surprisingly the first boss wasn't too painful. They were using Esuna between their Cure 1 spam in the beginning. It's just the final run I suppose they were trying to take the advice I was giving them and forgot.

But I am grateful the WHM didn't react negatively though, that was what I was afraid of since everytime I come across a Cure 1 WHM, I immediately get flashbacks to a Cure 1 WHM I got in Mt. Gulg. Talking to that WHM was like talking to a brick wall since they instead of trying to use anything else, or even their lilies at the very least; they asked me to pull smaller of all things... I still don't know why I tortured myself by staying through that run.

Yesterday had a case of a free loader/dead weight healer with half equipment lv80 and free slots in Dun Scaith, he was afk and just entering boss area just to not be kicked from the game. We noticed after boss 1 and trash fight, but sadly ended up kicking before Diabolos since random people kept clicking on loot right before the vote dismissal.
People will do anything just to laze around huh.
On the fun side though, I met in the same instance an Eden Savage raider tank and he pretty much MT all the way but I am glad he also shares the sentiment that Hollow Diabolos is absolutely nasty with repeated tankbusters lol

Oh boy, do I have a story for you all.

Had a Ghimlyt Dark Run with 1 new person - BLM. They died a lot. That's not a problem. What the problem was, the rest of the party dying to the same mechanics over and over again on the bosses.

By the end of the first boss, we were legit wiping from the spinning mechanic because the SCH or DPS would die in droves. I was sure I was doing like 70% of the total damage against the bosses' HP as a tank at this point since the HP bar really only moved whenever I'm doing damage... So I dialed down my DPS to see if I can help people out with Heart of Stone because they were dying even with my mitigations on raidwides. Then I proceed to watch people run into AoEs, and look at their skill rotation.

The scholar spamming physick and occasionally adlo/succor, then eating AoEs with some Broils. The dancer freestyling their dance skills with single target attacks, then going into multi target weaponskill attacks on the boss. No, they don't have flourish at this level. The AoE attacks weren't even in range on the boss..

BLM using Flare as their main attack rotation for both single target and AoE. Fire III, Fire III, Fire III / Flare. Blizzard III, Blizzard IV, Blizzard IV, Blizzard IV. Fire III. It was like this for mobs and like this for bossing. Well, that explains why we had no damage.

Best part was that the BLM refused to revive after wipe and waited for SCH to ress them every time, so they had an even bigger penalty debuff because they were always dead. In the end, that's not a big deal. They were already probably doing less dps than the scholar who already can't keep their DoT up at any point in time with. It does hurt a little inside when they throw their leylines down, and then proceed to step out of them and begin casting Blizzard III ..

Wiped twice to the first boss. Succeeded on the third attempt, going to the second boss. By the second boss, people die to freezing missile and the 270 degree conal attack. We wipe again. And again. At some point in the Scholar and the Black Mage's back-and-forth banter, I realize they're a couple. Makes sense, I can understand why they want to wait for their S.O. to pick them off the ground. Doesn't help that they're still dying over and over again.

What doesn't make sense is why the Scholar would run ahead, like miles ahead to pull all the enemies while their S.O. needed some time and lagged behind for a long while before catching up with the rest of the party. Isn't the couple supposed to wait for each other to enjoy the content together??? What kind of joke is this? A toxic relationship? I don't mind waiting for the new player in the duty since they might be taking in the sights. After all, I can just immediately grab aggro back as a tank. I'm really partial to the new player experience because I know how it is to have a party that runs ahead while you're lost. Though it does concern me they were just afk for a fairly long while after being ressed.

Anywho, after the 4th? 5th? Wipe? I start to do slow my DPS rotation because I don't want their first time to be sitting on the floor 24/7 and getting a carry. It's a fairly memorable dungeon, with all the NPCs and all.

After I started doing less DPS, the scholar starts Broiling more and playing better. Like using oGCD heals first instead of Physick spam, and Adloquium + Lucid Dreaming when they had to ress someone or heal themselves quickly. Are mine eyes deceiving me? Oh nope, they went back to physick spam. Hmm...

So I choose not to mitigate incoming raidwides with reprisal or heart of light, and use my mitigation rotation a bit more poorly. Lo and behold, DNC using shield samba. SCH suddenly adjusting a ton better for a moment. They all stop eating AoEs. HMMMMM... I could always chalk it up to finally 'memorized mechanic', except they were level 80s and most certainly ran this dungeon before this. So... is this intentional?

By the time we reach the final boss, it has been 40 minutes since the start of this duty.
At this point I'm like 90% sure they're trolling and their mechanic & rotational reactions are starting to show more frequently. Those reactions are definitely not done in a panic. Instead, they resemble more of a natural reflex before they suppress it. I'm pretty sure they stopped hiding that they're trolling too because I just haven't responded at all to their messages since the start of the whole dungeon. I'm honestly too tired to care and just want to clear the dungeon since I've already invested 40 minutes in here.

We wipe to the final boss once. We clear it the second time. Roughly 50 minutes to an hour later, I'm free from this accursed party. A quick search later lets me know they were all from the same FC. Yep, definitely trolling.

And never again will I doubt myself to click -leave duty- when something like this happens again when I'm tanking.

Well, yeah. They thought it was the tank who attempted a kick. This is why you don't give players the benefit of the doubt.

Just wanted to give something a little more positive.

I queued into Haukke Manor with two cute Lalas and made a joke about how myself and the archer were now parents on a field trip. The Lala PLD goes super hard with pulls. Literally only stopping when they hit a wall. I've never seen anyone do this before and, admittedly, was a little scarred at first. Had to focus healing but it went surprisingly well. I'm not usually talkative in dungeons, as I don't want to be a bother, but we joked around for a small portion of the run. It was lovely. I just wanna say thanks for the amazing run. It made the monotony of daily roulettes a little better.

Like, if you're going to wear the crown, how about actually doing the job?

Queued for Omega Sigma V2, someone there was new, they state such about not knowing the mechanics. TWO battle mentors in the group. Some throw emoticons, but say nothing else. I point out isn't anyone going to explain it, no one speaks up, just attacked and started the battle.

(---) Guy just said he didn't know mechanics, you know, someone who knows them could explain
    (--) ahh it'll be fine

Now that person is fine with it. But another sprout that wouldn't be? Like, this is the whole point of the mentoring system. So people need to actually mentor. I'm only a crafting mentor and could remember like only half the fight so I was worthless to explain, but the battle mentors said nothing.

I don't have the crown yet, but like if someone asks me a crafting/gather question I try to help? When I do get the crown from enough commends, I intend to study up on the fights more to be there to help?
    Wtf mentors?

Tryring to process new info is totally fair. They'll be fine.

It also helps if the DPS know that particular fight and focus the adds. I may have a smidge of PTSD from those adds so they get priority, lol.

on one hand, people expect mentors to help and explain mechanics
on the other hand, people get upset when mentors explain the fight/mechanic and thus spoil a sprouts first experience, even if the sprout asked for it
hell, you have quite a few people in this forum who get legitimately upset when someone is trying to help a clearly struggling player because 'unsolicited advice is bad' and 'you're forcing your playstyle on them'
so what are mentors supposed to do? damned if they do, damned if they don't

granted, I myself give out advice to players wherever I can because it's always nice to see someone else improve and I explain mechanics if people are struggling with them or ask for help with them, but I also don't care if I'll make some vet/mentor butthurt by spoiling 1 sprouts blind experience if 3-4 are asking for it, so

Welp, got a fail to share, and this one's my own. I've been doing my daily roulettes on my WHM while I go through the post 5.0 story for tomestones. I started with 50/60/70, got Baelsar's wall where the tank instantly left upon zoning in (no idea why, it's not a very hard dungeon o.O) Then moved on to leveling and landed on Halatali (Nice group, nothing to say here).

Then I queue for Trial roulette and get Titan Hard. I hate that fight, it's chaotic, but whatever, it'll be over quick. My co-healer seems to be struggling a bit with dodging, maybe it's their first time, and die about halfway through. No problem, swiftcast and rez, and then they instantly die again before I can even heal them and the tank also suddenly goes down. Huh... so the other tank picks the boss up, people are dying to mechanics left and right and I'm struggling to keep everyone healed up for some reason. Then I notice in chat the MT, the one who died, complaining about using Cure 1 instead of Cure 2 which is rather odd as cure 1 isn't even on my bar... and then it hits me... I swapped out Cure 2 for Cure 1 in halatali since I can't use it at that level... and forgot to swap back. I was also using medica 1 instead of medica 2 because, again, swapped it out in Halatali. So here I am, half the team dead with the wrong dang spells on my bar, trying to correct it while dodging for my life.

We finished the fight without issue from there but the tank insisted on giving me an earful, even after I explained the mix-up, so I quietly left and took my completely undeserved comms with me. So to that group: I'm sorry.

I really wish they'd make Cure 1 automatically upgrade to Cure 2 and get rid of the freecure trait nobody uses anyways x.x
