Exactly. I feel people demand way too much of mentors, and then they cry "BAD MENTOR!" when the person doesn't comply with their idea of what a mentor should do. For example, a mentor may have WHM as their level 80 healer, but they don't play AST. How on earth are they supposed to "teach" this job to another person? Mentors shouldn't be expected to be a walking encyclopedia of FF14. They're not paid for anything, so they should only be expected to supply whatever help they're capable of without necessarily going out of their way to "learn" stuff they're not interested in just so that they can "teach" it to a person who couldn't be bothered to make the tiniest of efforts.
People should put in the effort and mentors shouldn't be required to pick up the slack of lazy people. Sure, mentors can give advice and tips or point you to guides if they know any, but by no means should they be required to "teach" stuff. There are guides for this, and they do an excellent job at explaining and teaching.
