This seems to be a trend of late, most things are subjective.

That's why we all have different opinions.

And there are many different ways to express them. I felt that in some parts the OP's choice of words made the post feel more like a consensus, than a preference in taste.

I personally thought they were supposed to be the "ugly race".

This is my interpretation of the races.

Hyur = Humanoid
Elezen = Elven
Lalafell = Short Mystics
Roegadyn = Brute Beasts
Miqo'te = Cat Tribe

At the end of the day, its all subjective to personal taste.

Sea wolves look fine aesthetically, the Hellsguard got wrinkly scowl faces but I'm sure there are some people that love that look on their character.

Why are there more races than Hyur?
