I 100% agree. The NA forums really needs to utilize that Like button more. From what I can tell between the JP forums and NA forums, that like button makes a difference and it seems to be how the JP get's their thoughts heard a lot more than we do. Even on Reddit, we would rather downvote everything than upvote. When every post sits at 0 or 1 likes, it's no wonder the moderators never listen to us because we don't even like ourselves. Even that one post with 15likes, you can easily feel cynical about and assume it's their closest friends that upvoted it. I really don't understand why NA seems to be so anti like button. It's not like anyone can see that you did hit the like button. If nothing else, at least it would make this place feel more positive.
The like button is really underutilized.
I'm not sure how much this effects official involvement with the forums, but at the very least it's def a shame that people aren't using that tool more.
I've been posting here for years and I'm pretty confident suggesting that this is the best place to come where discussion surrounding the game is concerned.
The community here isn't perfect and it has issues, certainly, though most of those issues are directly linked to this place having seemingly been abandoned.
There have been multiple calls for our community representatives to have more of a presence here. Yet not only are they missing in action, even constructive feedback does not appear to be handed over to the development team.
Mysteriously, though, any feedback related to issues that the Twitter and Reddit community are working themselves up into a frenzy about are sent to the developers.
I've met some cool posters here who I have then befriended in-game which is ultimately what keeps me coming back here. With that said, for various reasons and personal investigations I am not convinced that the current status quo is sustainable.
Agree with this ftmp. Think it’s really really sad that they’ve just abandoned their own forums for twitter and reddit, which are just cesspools of toxicity. Twitter also has a much more vocal minority crowd so when niche things get requested there, they’re much more heard and recognized which sometimes leads to many of us getting the short end of the stick when it comes to certain things. SE certainly has questionable priorities when it comes to that.I've been posting here for years and I'm pretty confident suggesting that this is the best place to come where discussion surrounding the game is concerned.

Seems to be fairly within expectations, with a system that helps prevent some of the hiveminding aspects of a Reddit system (downvote can quickly shape and hide the presentation of ideas, something that a few dislike together can send it downwards; however, if posted 2 hours later the same exact post could be top comment by the effect of just a handful of different impressions). Reddit is good for certain things but having a discussion / diversity of ideas, it is not. Maybe some feel shut down here but the 'power' of that shutdown is certainly hampered at least, as long as you're following forum rules lol.
I think the forums are fine, minus when a deep pocket user occasionally decides to re-organize the entire front page because they can.
It's good we also have some hardcore players here to represent that side, and clearly we've casual players too. It's probably not a perfect representation of the game, but I think at least there is some multi-form representation within a system that can't be whim shutdown as easily as say a Reddit system. Would be nice to see our CMs / devs more often, but I can see why on a few fronts it's sanity relif to not tell people they received feedback and have everyone assume that it's now going to be implemented as that user requested or what have you.. still a bit more would be nice.. At least to get the sense things are looked at lol. I think they are, or there are a number of circumstances that match up closely to player feedback and events in game that is just hyper coincidental (I've seen and given a few items that then seem to be quite clearly influenced by someone's comment, some being there are coincidence is natural but after a while I think too many to be just that). Not having to have faith and just 'know by overt action' would be preferred though.

Same here in regards to the reddit as people have pointed out. I used it quite a bit in ARR and HW but then the mods turned it into an echo chamber hug box, killing all meaningful discussion. Now it's all just people seeking internet points for their efforts by posting screenshots of personal achievements, art and the nonstop "I just joined the game and everything's great" threads.
Now I mostly just use the OF to look for any discussion. Sure there's a bunch of trolls here but I've seen a lot worse.
This place is perfect for people who love to troll. So much so that even after the troll is banned. They are still so paranoid that they whisper trolls name in almost every thread that goes against any ideals that they have.
It is a sad place, but I don't mind it so much. I've gotten many laughs just from how people act, the pearl clenching and acting like the input they give should matter just as much as JP. This forum is pretty much proof that I hope this company does not listen to our feedback.
Honestly, the best advice I could give to new players is to avoid the official forums. It's far too late for myself and many others here, but this place seems to highlight some of the worst parts of the community. I think that's fairly standard for most game forums though.
e: I do mainly just stick to general discussion, so that may explain things.

Trolls, necroposting and not much else tbh.. The lore section sometimes has interesting discussion, however.
Its the best community for actual discussion providing you stick to everything that's not General Discussion. Its not a cesspool of toxicity like reddit and its not a place of blind worship like twitter.
Unfortunately, its also the most ignored place by SE. No feedback gets passed along, trolls are not removed adequately nor necro threads locked.
Some genuinely interesting stuff here.
Can’t believe i forgot to mention the blind worship. Probably the twitter communities worst aspect. Its the best community for actual discussion providing you stick to everything that's not General Discussion.
