You buy a in-game item for €20, sells it on auction house and get several hundred thousands gold. people who buy it can use it for sub time.
it's basically official santioned RMT by blizzard.
when/if we get it here it will destroy the game imo.
Man, it's so hard to justify it without seeming like a shill, but I bought the Cruise Chaser because I love this game so much and just wanted to throw even more of my money behind the developers, no matter how this money is going to otherwise be used.
Me, I am *happy* cruise chaser is a store mount. I can't get it until October after I pay for my preorder, but at least I *can* get it. Stop complaining about the store mounts, buy it, or don't buy it, but don't ruin it for the folks who are happy they can actually get their hands on it.
1 - So where would you drawn the line? What is okay and what isn't? Clearly you're not okay with the Cruise Chaser mount being added or you wouldn't have made this thread. Do you have that same objection to all the other mounts, or is it just those that you want to have and it's okay for the rest to be cash shop?I want to clarify a few points
1. I am not completely against the mogstation I'm fine with a way to give devs a little extra money I am simply against certain things being added as an option.
2. I am not trying to doomsay the game is good but what I am saying is that being wary about cash shops is important to make sure the game stays that way.
3. I did not once say that the cash shop was the only reason that game is failing the systems are a big part to. But the cash shop and the WoW token straight up killed the market and it was a part of it.
2 - Cash shops are here to stay because consumers like them. They'd rather make dozens of $2-3 transactions to get exactly what they want than spend $25 to pay for a group of items that includes some they don't want.
3 - There was one very basic problem with the WoW token that led to the current trouble. Blizzard gave it a value beyond game time. If they had kept it to game time only as it had originally been released (including the restrictions on how many could be purchased in a 12 month period), the WoW token wouldn't have been able to fuel those problems. No use selling carries/boosts to 20 other players for 10-50 tokens each when I only need 12 tokens a year to cover my sub time. Instead they gave it a value outside of game time, including the ability to gift items to other players and created a secondary real money market by doing so.
Forward and back and then go forward and back
And then go forward and back, then put one foot forward
Welcome to the jungle!I have seen a lot of people defending the mogstation recently because of comments made by people who came from WoW. With the recent mount that has come to the mogstation it's gotten even louder. Let me explain the reason they are upset and saying something because we've seen and heard it all before and most others have too if you've played a game in the last 4 years. This is a nudge they are gonna keep taking steps over the line to see how far they can move it. Being an ablest and going "oh its not as bad <insert comment about WoW token here" is missing the point entirely the cash shop in WoW used to be almost a mirror of yours now a few mounts and outfits and maybe a boost depending on when you were around. The WoW token is what happens when you just let companies keep taking steps over the line we didn't just start with a WoW token. WoW didn't start as a bad game, My advice is instead of going "omg WoW bad haha" and then proceeding to make the same mistakes we did in allowing blizz to not only go this far but also allow the ffxiv team to make the same mistakes is Honestly Idiotic. Wake up for a moment and realize what this mount represents and how far they've already gone. They arn't gods you shouldn't worship them they did good with their game but the cash shop is actually awful. The WoW token and other things in that shop are "Optional" too btw if you wanna have that mentality.
i dont mind it being a cash shop mount.
of course i would like it more if we get a quest at which ends we get the mount.... but if they had to do that wo wouldnt have the mount now... we would never have gotten it, because they dont have the time to do all these extra work around it. yeah we got the mount becaus epeople wish it for years.... and they put it in the cash shop, what is wrong with it? its optional and its cosmetic, you get your mount in the lvl 20 msq for free.
Do you know what's worst? defending a store mount.
1st - Is an iconic summon from FFXI - It's ultimate summon.
2nd - Is an iconic raid boss from FFXIV - A mount that has been demanded by fans for years now.
3rd - Is a cash shop item, that on itself is already unethical considering money from the cash shop does not go into the game development.
So yeah, is quite bad.
And the passing of years won't make it any better. Unethical capitalist practicess don't have expiration date - till the ecosystems collapse at least.
