I like lazy peon. Does not mean I agree with many of his takes, but I can enjoy watching people who I don't agree with because I don't take it personal.


The amount of hate he got for being "wrong" was just silly, and it was eye opener for many in the community that we got a sickness, but we ignored that rot because if one thing I learn about ff14 community is. We are very good at escapism. So glad he giving it another chance, and if he still does not end up liking it. That is fine. Even though i think the people who dislike him, will have a nervous break down. So part of me is hoping he will trash the game again lol.



Now to answer your question. I don't think they should really do a thing, This is a final fantasy game, and talking and story is the main thing about a final fantasy. If they cut or streamline it anymore, it would take away the heart of the game. We need people to understand reading is not the end of the world, and if you skip it and still enjoy game more power to you, but I enjoy the reading, I like voice acting for sure, but something about reading tons of text just warms my heart and brings me closer to my childhood days of playing rpgs.

One of the first things I did when I started playing this game was switch the audio back to the original Japanese. In fact, during those first few FFXIV sessions, where one is still getting the layout of everything correct and tweaking UI and graphics settings, the discovery of such an option made me literally quiver a bit with excitement and anticipation.

For me, the original language is where it's at. Always preferred watching anime like that, ever since I was a little kid way back in the 80s; I find English voice acting to be quite off-putting. Ditto films or television... if I can get the original language with subtitles, that's definitely my preference.

I agree we have issues that people wanna ignore here, but I do need to point out something here.

He specifically skipped the story, and then complained afterwords that the story was bad. That was what people mostly took a (justified, imo) issue with. If he doesn't like the story after doing it, then fine, but if you're gonna drop $25 to skip it, and then complained the skipped story was bad, that's going to ruffle something.

Also, it's worth money to suddenly like the game now, so he's going to enjoy it. Remember when he originally even tried ffxiv, his viewers were still mostly from his time from wow, so bashing it, he likely felt, would ring better with his community rather than praising it.
