Ffxiv's Zones Looks Extremely Bad and Outdated

FXIV Zones and outdated? That was a good one, you surly didn't have played a lot of MMOs so far. True they could always look better and some (especial older Zones) are not as good as others. But for an MMO that's already 10 Years old they still look pretty nice. Also if you use something like Reshade (for PC) it can still hold its ground against modern MMOs and other games that where released during the last 3 years (for example). Sure if you look very close at most textures they look blurry, but from my experience that isnt an issue during the normal gameplay.

The first picture made me laugh. Its obvious that you dont use the highest graphic setting the game offers if you play on pc.

With shaders most old things can get a great facelift.
However, the original isn't that good looking.
I too find a lot of the graphics to be lacking in places.
Over all it's good looking.
But like many old games the age is showing.

You are completely wrong.
I use the maximum settings. Why I wouldn't since I've a 2080Ti and a 5900X.

If that is true than the first picture is realy strange. Even if i play without reshade i never had something like this. To me it looks like the renderdistance is extremly short for some reason and everything that is a bit further is either blured out or not shown at all. Even solid objects like the mountains look like they are not rendered at all.

Did you mean WoW or something because I don't recall any news about a new graphics engine in XIV.

At the digital can fest Yoshi said it was something in development but no details beyond that. I got the impression that it wasn't far along and it would be a few years.

If you go to the aetheryte in middle la noscea, fly up and look easy out of the map, you'll see stuff like that. It's not visible from the ground and clearly an oversight from when they updated the maps for flying.

And which one have you had nostalgia for, longer?

If we're being real real, I'm more nostalgic for Ultima Online. Neither 14 nor WoW hold first love status for me, and we're always "the other woman" in my eyes. Even then, there were few areas in UO that I would sit around in. Hell, there are zones in ESO I'll just afk in for hours over a 14 zone. I'll watch the npcs, the ambient wildlife mobs do their thing. Observe the day and night cycle as the world twirls around. FFXIV reminds me too much of the Korean MMOs I played in high school with fields of mobs to grind on, nothing more. Besides ARR zones, of course.
