I'm starting to feel like a masochist for even looking forward to the "male only" outfits that are usually painful. These are the ugliest pants in the entire game. So far, I'm sure I'll take that back in the future when something else ugly comes out for "males only".

The vest shirt will probably go really far with me, the hat's kind of iffy.

Those pants though... uh. I've been told I have terrible fashion sense but I might just come around to liking them... secretly... no those aren't overalls and plaid shirts in my closet, thank you.

Maybe it's part of SE's strategy- make the male-only glamour so ugly the girls don't complain when there's nothing for them lol. I'm glad they followed through at least, even if the result wasn't up to par for most people. Hopefully it's a starting point rather than a sign of things to come.

It just occurred to me that the shirt might merge really well with the astrologian relic gear sleeves. Could make for a nice job glamour.

Now, to be clear this thread was originally made back in 2017 and over the years has since been tweaked. Since feedback is supposedly taken more seriously if it is limited to a single thread, I have decided to completely revamp this post in the hope that it will be seen more easily by our community representatives and passed along to the development team.

There's a wealth of interesting looking NPC's in this game. Many of which look pretty great because of the unique outfits that they wear as well as the way in which they keep their hair and facial hair. It isn't unusual for players to request specific outfits worn by various NPCs to be added to the game - and the developers have shown that they are more than willing to oblige popular requests.

This isn't a bad thing in itself. Yet I know from reading various FFXIV discussion boards - including this one - that I'm not the only player who is becoming increasingly weary of seeing feminine or androgynous looking characters being prioritised above all else.
Ugh yes i agree. I think it’s high time we male characters finally got some attention. It’s kind of ridiculous that the game has been out for what, 8 years now? And they’ve only just now addressed even thinking about adding a stubble. Meanwhile they’re always coming out with feminine collab outfits or hair or mogstation glams etc etc. Something needs to change because as of right now there’s a heavy imbalance of attention being put towards female characters and that being put towards male characters.

I can definitely get behind our manly men having more options available to them, beards, stubble, and muscle sliders; it is my hope that such a thing would not lead to additional genderlocks on gear and customization. Recently female characters got another exclusive glam to them via ryne's outfit. There are many people who play a male character that would love to have her outfit, just as there are many people who play female character that would love to have access to the few male exclusive glamors. If items continue to remain heavily genderlocked, then the dev team will prioritize creating female glamors. Fan service wins in the end. So I agree, but I think this request is falling on deaf ears.

Most people who want clothes made with men in mind don't mind waiting, I mean at least I don't. I rather wait than have boring "genderless" clothing/glamours.

I just hope that they somehow realize that there’s many players who play male characters that just want to be represented. Unfortunately it seems like shouting into the void is the only real way to give feedback given the lack of transparency the team seems to have. It seems if you aren’t shouting on twitter or reddit then the devs won’t hear you or even acknowledge you which is sad :/ considering that this is the official forums you’d think they’d use this more over those other toxic social media platforms. I just really don’t want another male viera situation and i can’t help but foresee that’s exactly what 6.0 will be like. More feminine pandering.

I mean mogstation I dunno, I don't rly buy costumes there.
But ingame stuff that you don't have to spend real money on I don't think you really have problems finding masculine gear and clothing.

    And I mean '' feminine pandering ''.
Yeah, imagine when you prefer feminine gear and clothing and how few options you actually have in comparison in video games as a whole ( particularly in the West ).
I think that FFXIV has just done a good job at giving us a ton of options for that too, and maybe people aren't used to it so they feel like there's way more of it than there really is because feminine gear and clothing isn't an afterthought.

It's kinda like with revealing gear too, I constantly see people severely overexaggerate how much there is both in FFXIV and WoW.
Like now because of that whole 2010 QnA Blizzcon answer clip people are unironically talking about WoW as if the game is full of '' plate bikinis '' when in reality there's only a few of them from Vanilla.
And almost every antagonist have been a shirtless muscle man, it has basically become a meme lol.
The Jailer wasn't even supposed to be that but was changed from his original concept art to be that too.

If we're talking about healers I can sorta see it I guess. But we're still just talking about a few sets.

I mean Asmongold has been drooling over the gear in the game and he has fairly stereotypical '' dudebro '' preferences.

Just look at this expansion alone. 2b coffer? Pure feminine outfit with no male alternative. Exarchic healing set? Eden healing sets? dungeon healing sets etc etc. Majority are feminine and barely altered for men. Recent hairstyles? Either androgynous or feminine.Males have gotten no attention in the beard department. The one thing people could’ve gotten who wanted more masculine things was for male viera to have a varied height slider and to have at least a masculine face….nope. Not given. Instead they’re insanely feminine. Even miqote have a masculine face available for those who want it. They can’t even give the stubble. It’s taken until now for them to even address it.
