With more new players joining, and people not use to playing an MMORPG that does not have damage meters. This video explains, and it is pretty good take I feel.

I think pretty much everyone that's going to form an opinion about damage meters pretty much already has theirs more or less set in stone, regardless of what anyone else including the producer of the actual game says.
Whether it's for personal performance, or measuring the worth of your party members in endgame duties with an encounter-long DPS check, or if you don't take the game all that seriously and just want to spin off roulettes at the end of the day without worrying, everyone pretty much already has their idea of what damage meters would mean (and do mean) for them as a person and I haven't met a single person who entered into the conversation with the willingness to change their opinion about it.
At the end of the day the numbers will always be there, and the player base will always contain people who hyper-optimize and play as if the rest of their party are perfectionist gods plus will also contain small pulling tanks, zero dps healers, and DPS players that don't AoE, and everyone in between will still be there witnessing slap fights in the wal-mart parking lot over people not putting forth some idea of a bare accepted minimum in nearly brain dead content
I mean, Yoshi P politely stated: "Please do not use ACT, we will penalize the use of it."
I do not know what else is there to say. It is a clear statement and people using it anyways are disrespecting His wishes and the Set rules. It is as easy as that.

That's not what he is saying. He is saying that using it to measure your own performance is fine.
I think, the tools are neat to have and there's no reason to arbitrarily not allow it, especially since "difference in playstyle" is a valid, official reason to kick someone!
Weird stuff going on.
More numbers/information is never a bad thing, am glad they atleast tolerate 3rd party things ^^

To sum it up, he says that you can use the tools at your own risk. They are not allowed that is the stance.
I think this is the best middle ground. Tools out for you to use, but if you mention it ingame you get in trouble. That is perfect.
Sucks to be a console player that wants to know how well they perform
It's fine if people don't talk about it or harass others for their performance, though using it has brought to my attention the difficulty DPS people are having. So I think it's time to super simplify the DPS classes because as a tank I'm consistently at the top, it just makes me sigh every time.
