Serious note -Why so many toxic players lately?

I'm not sure why people can't just be chill and have fun. It's always some sort of argument somewhere.

Because some ppl don't think about others, sometimes i am guilty of this as well. If you don't want to find a group that plays the same ways has you, you have to adapt and that's for everyone in the team. Not just the worse players or the better players. Asking for others to adjust without doing the same thing leads to more frustration imo.

You could consider being more chill yourself and just let people play how they want. If they want to play badly in a dungeon it doesn't matter as long as you beat it. There are no enrages in most dungeons.

Most people in dungeons are new to the game and don't know how to play. They may not be interested in playing well either because most of them will just go through the story and then quit. If they want advice they will either ask for it or lookup a class guide.

I asked if they didn't have it at the level we were synced at or if perhaps they forgot to use it? That's them to tell me they didn't have it yet, if they don't. That then educates me a bit more in that moment. Or, if they had it and didn't want to use it then that would be what they did. Not like I was yelling at them. Otherwise there's the third option of them saying "oh shoot, I don't play on this often, I forgot all about it." See, things like that happen. It's called talking and learning from each other. Just because someone asks a question doesn't mean they are insulting you or questioning your competence.

Actually, I questioned whether they were ignoring my question. Though I did give an alternative possibility of a different language. Seeing how I spoke to people in dungeons who were from Mexico, Germany, Australia, etc. it's not hard to imagine that sometimes people play on "English" servers but don't know English.

Granted, there was other options that I didn't consider at the time. Such as they could have had chat tab stuck on another channel and not seeing group chat or anything else. But of course, if that was the case, they wouldn't see or respond to me anyway so it wouldn't matter much of what I say.

Yes, the language and personality there was quite toxic. Someone asking a question about whether you have a skill at that level isn't anything bad. When you take that and your answer is "mind your own business" and "play your role" and whatever else, that's toxic. It's also the type of thing that makes a healer want to say, "ok, will do." Then not heal them and when they complain, say " play your role" in the same manner they did. It escalates stuff. It takes healthy discussion and learning and turns it into something else. Again, lot of it is the words they said, actions taken, etc. In me trying to be as brief as possible, it leaves a lot of room for imagination. All I can say is try to take my word for it a bit here.

Again, read what I mentioned. Did I tell anyone how to play? Did I complain at all? I asked a question, that's all. No bashing, no negativity, just asked if it was available at that level.

And that's what I couldn't remember. Just that simple answer was suffice and appreciated, but it didn't come. Instead it was very poor behavior and words said.

Part of why I even ask is not only where I've been able to help other players, but also because I don't always remember things. I've unlocked Dancer a while back but I couldn't tell you when the Closed Position (didn't even remember name) was available. I've also now got Paladin, Dark Knight, Warrior, Scholar, etc all 70+. I honestly don't always remember every name and have personally forgotten some skills before. I didn't take it as negative when people give advice. I also don't take it as negative when players ask me when I get an ability because I am mature enough to know that people don't always know and sometimes hope to learn.

I see the word "toxic" everywhere these days, it's the new hashtag to describe someone who's behaviour is not quite to your liking. A while back it was the word "racist"
A toxic player to me is someone who purposely goes out to insult or harries other players in some way. I assume everyone else to be just having a bad day or are preoccupied. Something we are all familiar with
I feel for those who get labelled as toxic for the wrong reasons.
A example of a real toxic game community would be Eve-Online. Wow, I met some people on there that were borderline evil.

As someone who plays on controller I would be a bit annoyed that you were forcing me to "educate" you mid dungeon.

Finish the dungeon and look it up yourself if you are so curious about how other jobs play. If they don't respond to you it's because they don't have to.

More people = higher chance of encountering less than savory types.

Then not much of any new content because expansion is in 4ish months so people slowly but surely feeling burnout and getting easily set off.

Keep mincing words and proving my original assessment correct. I don't think you're doing this for any sort of constructive dialogue. My initial perception was pretty spot on and all you're doing is providing more and more evidence to support it.
The fact remains you self admittedly came into this discussion looking to get a response from me and not to contribute to the discussion.

I came into the discussion proving you wrong. Whether you view it as constructive or not is not my concern.

I did the same with another guy who diagnosed me with an existential crisis of control on my first thread. On another thread, he said he is working in the psych field to prove his point on an argument that was barely touching the main topic. And then I reminded him that he is a clown.

It is similar to the post I initially replied to. It actually is not connected with the topic at all. The one who started derailing from the thread discussion is you and I continued it.

I am literally holding myself back from accusing ALL the new people turning up on the forums who are necro-ing and posting hot-button topics.. because of the exact same reason we might be encountering more "rude" players..

It's definitely a sad thing that one user is making us doubt anyone who isn't a "regular" but Dragonblanco here does not fit the pattern... and yeah.. I did check, I'll admit. Not just the one 80 war and magic class with 80 all crafters and the one man FC.

Nobody asked you if you are holding from accusing all new posters of being Titanmen alt. You didn't hold when I started posting here and I will point that out so that eventually if someone else who is new gets called out for being titanman alt they would know that it's not really their fault and that FFXIV's forum has some special breed of crazy lunatics.

You asked someone if they using a skill. They did not say anything, and you made a snide comment because you got ignored, and upset that the player got upset?

This silly standard that players got to think of others in a game made group makes no sense to me. People want to say it is respect, and again that makes no sense. We are using each other for progression, and long as the content gets done. Does not matter how players play. If you die 3+ times because you are having trouble with something. That is ok
as long as it gets done. Healer does not want to dps fine with that also in a pug setting.


Now If I was to make my own group. I will set standards. My standards does not belong in a group I did not make. So play how you want, and if the content gets done that is all that matters to me.


Heck I've been in a DF where people was rping, and one group that this girl wanted to take screen shots while we fight and she stood to the side to get better stuff instead of dpsing.

We still beat the dungeon. I think it is acceptable to be "toxic" and play however you want in content that is design this easily.

Some people don't talk in dungeons, some people don't have chat up, some people literally just don't care enough to respond. That doesn't mean you bait them or come at them over it and initiate an argument.
