Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

I think they look masculine, they look like young men. Yeah they aren't huge and overly muscular like bodybuilders, but they definitely look like men. I have seen plenty of men IRL look like male viera. I dont really get why some are saying they look like women.

Ppl in WoW say that male blood elf looks like women and they look like this, so at this point I'm well beyond trying to understand what looks like a man and what looks like a woman to some tbh.

it's extremely feminine and options for a more maculine look are almost non-existant. It's more than androgynous.

It is unfortunate there isn't a face option that appeals to you for male viera. Thankfully, there are other races for you to choose from that have more masculine options.
I think viera as a race are just meant to look a little bit more androgynous (but I think some people are in denial about that lol), especially since the lore emphasizes that young males and females are very literally indistinguishable. So it's unsurprising they still look similar, but distinguishable, when they are older. That's just how it is.
This race seems to appeal to people who like the bishounen/kpop/whatever you want to call it aesthetic. If you don't like that, that's totally ok. It just means this race isn't meant for you, just like how hrothgar aren't meant for people who don't like beast races.

To be entirely fair, that's more of a running joke of the community because they're outrageously metrosexual and snobby, but fun fact that proves your point - they were beefed up due to feedback, their original beta model was rather slim

Best I could do with making one look less feminine. I agree with many here that the options are disappointing for many of us who would like more masculine looks. I don't personally care for the beard options presented. Facial stubble would have been nice.

I'm happy you like your character, but, honestly, to me it looks like a female viera with a fake beard and paint on her eyes to hide it. It's M(ulan) Viera. Which is emphasised by the fact that the sideburns are actually painted on the face. You can't tell in those pictures, but it looks AWFUL in character creator and doesn't fit many of the hairstyles.
As I said, I'm glad for you, but as someone who has wanted to play a Male for a long time it has been kind of a downer.

Why? Beacuse of the long hair? That is not feminine at all, but we know WoW players have different standards, so we can't gauge our reactions the same way. If I had that option for M-Viera I'd be really happy.

It's funny how lore is thrown around when it suits our reasons:
- SE: "You can't play M-Viera, they are rare because lore." -> Players: "They should ignore lore"
- Players: "You can't have your options because I don't like it and because of lore, which is holy"

Seriously, it won't be changed at this point, but would it hurt you so much to just support and keep rowing in the same direction as we have done for two years? We are constantly asking for more variety and options. This whole thread is about it. So instead of just telling people to go kick a stone because this is not for them when they might have been waiting for 2 years and are disappointed, be a little bit nicer, just the way you wanted the rest of the players to be towards you before bunnyboys were announced.

Also, what I'm seeing in the thread is that now that some of you have got exactly what you wanted have forgotten what it felt like to be ignored and are ganging up on the rest or trying to silence them. Feels wrong. As I said, it can't be changed now, but who knows, SE heard us the first time and it might help F-Hroths or even further down the line if they improve character customization. Every voice is valid as long as it's constructive criticism, don't try to silence them just because they are different from yours.

To be fair without my glasses and at a glance that does legit look like a female with a fake stash. Even with my glasses it was a struggle. I legit it was a female to male mod.

I get my eyesight is poor but only other race I make that mistake with is lalafell and that is hairstyle dependant.

I think the beards kinda have a counter intuitive effect since they hide the jawline.

The jawline shows better without the beards and it is easier to see the more masculine jawlines. The beards seem a bit too.....glued on on some of the faces. But I love the male Viera and I’m happy I get to make one.
