using the new endwalker benchmark
https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/benchmark/
it "scores" your rig depending on how well it renders a few scenes using resources from the expansion and shows off some neat stuff we'll be getting (new AF armors, mount, classes)
there is also a screenshot contest going on :

WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
Advance happy birthday. And I read next year the next gen chipsets are coming out so maybe wait before upgrading to future proof your new PC more.Only 7245 so I should still be able to play without any lag or issues as I do now. My PC is about 6 years old and still using an AMD FX and a 1060 card. I built my husband a machine with a 1st gen Ryzen a couple of years or so ago (it was RIGHT before the 2nd gen came out so I was kind of annoyed I missed it and didn't wait) but it wasn't in the cards to build myself one. He PC games a lot more whereas I just do XIV, Borderlands, and Diablo and prefer console for everything else. My birthday's in September, though, so maybe I'll see about some upgrades for a birthday present to myself.
Curved ultra wide is pretty immersive if you setup a minimal HUD layout. Put a trigger macro in your hotbar to swap between combat mode and immersive mode. In immersive mode, just remove almost all HUD elements, other than the macro that puts you back in combat mode, a mount, and some necessities (like minimap and duty list). Many cutscenes have blackboxes that make you go back to 16:9, but exploring the world is very nice on ultra wide. If you raid you also get what is basically a legal zoomhack too lol.Does the game look better in ultra wide? I’ve been considering ultra wide monitor for some games with beautiful scenery like Death Stranding and Red Dead Redemption 2… but I’m not sure if it’s worth it.
I’m weird and don’t really see much difference between 4K and ray tracing haha. My desktop is good now and I tried testing 4K and ray tracing - the difference is there, of course but it’s not huge. So usually I just game on 1080p. And ray tracing is something I don’t understand at all o.O it needs so much gpu usage and the difference is not huge.
Also kind of off-topic but did anyone play XIV with curved monitor? Is it more immersive ir distracting?
Curved and ultra wide are two technology I’m actually kind of interested in

I run 2:1 ratio windowed and it does squash vertically a bit imo.Does the game look better in ultra wide? I’ve been considering ultra wide monitor for some games with beautiful scenery like Death Stranding and Red Dead Redemption 2… but I’m not sure if it’s worth it.
