To the people involved, do you know the names of the people who had the claim when killed (who got the 78 exp)? I'd be interested to see if their lodestone history reveals anything for killing a guardian.

And technically, only creatures with a silver HP bar like the Eyes in Dezmael are invincible. Everything else should be killable ... somehow
