The problem with "skirting the rules", in my opinion, is, all it takes is ONCE for a GM to catch it. That evidence is forever tied to your account/character's chatlogs. All it takes is one person's report.

I really have yet to see anything other than paranoia or hearsay that verifies the "GM's will go through your logs till they find something to catch you on" thing.

Like I can appreciate you're trying to give advice to new people you think is helpful and will keep them out of trouble but it paints the whole game in an oppressive light that just isn't there.
