Indeed, yet many here and online walk around proud "oh we're so nice!" No, we're as toxic as any other community out there. Look yourselves in the mirror.
many people including Square Enix as a company, I'm pretty sure they want more players and more money.
You caring enough to comment so you do to then?
This isn't going to convince anyone who is already enjoying the game to stop playing. It's also not going to hold as much weight as the friends of potential players who are saying that FFXIV is great. It would only have impact on Asmon's fans.
This whole Asmon thing isn't really about FFXIV booming. It's about how WoW has hit such a low point that many die-hard fans for the first time are truly looking for a different mmorpg to play in the long-term. And many have found exactly that. He's a die-hard WoW fan who has repeatedly dismissed FFXIV as a weeb game, but even he is curious now.
It doesn't even matter if Asmon quits FFXIV in a matter of minutes. It's the fact that he's even going to try to play shows how little faith he has in Blizzard when it comes to WoW. If he still thought WoW was in a good state and/or if he trusted Blizzard would listen to feedback to improve the game he wouldn't even think about trying FFXIV. This is why it's a big deal. This entire situation is essentially commentary on how WoW is failing to keep its playerbase happy.
FFXIV will continue to do its thing with or without Asmon. However many WoW content creators have high praise for FFXIV while also holding little for the current state of WoW. Blizzard should be very worried.
This. Look - Square will benefit by Blizzard come back to bring back a good MMORPG. Competition is a good thing. People seem to forget this.
Wherever Asmon decide to play this or quit after 2 days doesn't matter but i'm pretty disappointed seeing how toxic and unwelcome this community has/is becoming.
This community has what I would consder its own brand of toxicity. Even so, it is only at about half strength compared to WoW and other games. Overall this community is great, but there's a darker side that isn't always evident. It is just hidden better. lolIndeed, yet many here and online walk around proud "oh we're so nice!" Yeah i'm not so sure about that. Just look at this forum and reddit. While I get it don't reflect everyone but if I was new to this game and had not been playing it for 8 years I'd be pretty worried - especially when reading stories like Scottzone and Lazypeon (though i pretty much dislike the latter, but that don't mean he deserve DT and the such)
And those don't necessarily reflect the overall community, much like us on the forums and those on reddit do not. You can keep bringing up some incidents that gained a lot of attention but that doesn't automatically mean the community as a whole is terrible. It just means that there's people with major issues in every community on the internet, gaming or otherwise.Yeah i'm not so sure about that. Just look at this forum and reddit. I really hope Blizzard comes back from this. Not even because i like WoW, but SE seriously SERIOUSLY needs competition. The lack of content lately..it needs something to make them push themselves.This. Look - Square will benefit by Blizzard come back to bring back a good MMORPG. Competition is a good thing. Indeed, if SE is unchallanged for some time, we might see another blizzard with no content and unless gameplay systems.
