This pretty much the standard for any community. If anything just show that FFXIV is not special at all. FFXIV just happen to be particularly sanitised compared to other MMO's, leading to certain players to be in a constant power trip.

Also, this forum, twitter, reddit and others do not represent the community at all. Most are just regular folk chilling and having fun.

Well that’s what i’m saying though. This community really isn’t all that different from others. There’s still rampant toxicity, it’s just kept underwraps more as people don’t want that info getting out. It’s why so few little people know about the scottzone situation lol.

He wants to play a buff man like a WoW human but FFXIV doesn't have any options like that (Highlander men look pretty wimpy compared to WoW human males).

Asmongold has repeatedly said that he thinks FFXIV sounds cool and wishes well to the people who are enjoying it, but he can't get past the anime aesthetic. He wants to play a buff man like a WoW human but FFXIV doesn't have any options like that (Highlander men look pretty wimpy compared to WoW human males).

I enjoy a lot of stuff Zak does within Wow like the transmog comps (which is perfect for FF14) , but his fanbase can be overwhelming.

I would have very similar views to him in regards to WoW vs FF14, if it was not for me buying an Impreza P1 in 2011. This caused me to watch Initial D, as I wanted to learn more JDM cars, as I was entering this car scene. Through that my love of anime grew (also I was getting into a lot of Urban Fantasy books) , I had always adored Laputa Castle in The Sky as a kid (still think it's the greatest steam punk anime movie of all time) , but this eventually lead to me discovering FF14 through the NoClip documentary when Stormblood was coming out (which is when I joined FF14).

I had always avoided JRPG games, as I didn't like the mechanics of turned based battle, that FF is known for. But when I saw it was an action MMORPG like WoW but so much more beautiful and I could play it on my PS4 (which died because of it and meant I got a Ps4-PRo before moving over to my gaming PC) as being able to play with my wireless controller made it easier on my back, as I could lay on my bed when my back hurt from using a chair (which was like 5 mins back then).

Nah, not really. They look pretty fierce to me aside from lacking eyebrows. Lyon even makes that look good though. That guy's a beast. And yes, pun intended. The 2 aren't really comparable though since it is 2 completely different art styles. But yeah, regardless, I doubt Asmongold is going to make the switch or even give FF XIV a shot. It's his loss, and seeing his opinions on certain things makes him look like a man in denial that he sort of wants to play it, but it's still his choice. There's no sense in playing a game you aren't going to enjoy. Even he has become disenchanted by WoW recently, so I guess anything can happen.
