Suggestion: Pre 50 GCD buff to solve the complaints

So as we know one of the very common criticisms of ARR is not only the story seeming slow but the GCD with no abilities to really weave into the rotation to make it interesting.

Now one of the primary reasons I think this is not changed is because of how it would affect achievements you can get at 50 and above...including UCOB, Alexander and Palace of the Dead. Plus the literal entire end game.

Here is my suggestion. People who are below level 50 are given an echo type buff that only applies to PVE that speeds up the GCD. It removes 0.5 from the GCD and by the time you are in 50 and above content you get more abilities so it is not nearly as bad plus you are into Heavensward.

    Thoughts?

What would happen with jobs such as monk, samurai and ninja who get skill speed buffs/straight reduction of their gcd speed? Is it a straight .5 off or does it scale for longer gcd skills like fire 3/blizz 3/ flare? Would it effect a machinists heat blast which is at a fixed 1.5 gcd or would it further reduce it?

Combat would change significantly for a number of jobs, some of which don’t even want skill speed or spell speed to reduce their gcd, anytime you got sync’d to a dungeon at or below 50. I personally feel a change like this would cause more harm than good because you’re getting used to that faster gcd just to have to “slow down” when you get to 51+.

For many new players the game is already strange and new and overwhelming.
I'm not sure if this would be the best move.
If it were something more experienced players could unlock (like, by having at least one job at cap) in order to make things more engaging when level synched through ARR content... I'm not sure that would accomplish anything either. Spamming just a couple of buttons vs spamming them faster doesn't really change the fact that you're not doing anything involving.

Also, if they did give us any kind of buff like this wow ARR content would just melt. It's already easy as heck.

It's an interesting idea, but I don't think it having DPS hit 1 - 2 slightly faster would solve the problem of people not having a lot to weave with pre50.

I mean it could be called "Hydalyns Blessing" or something. You could unlock it via a quest so it is optional but most would do it obviously. The quest could make it clear this phases out at lvl 50. I just the almost constant feedback Square Enix gets is without weaving 1-50 is boring.

I think there needs to be a better solution then "just slog through it and it will get better in 50 levels". Last thing I want them to take is the wrong feedback that I see MMO devs do and turn the beginning experience into a complete rush to endgame.

ok then. Phase it out as you get closer to 50. I am talking .5 seconds here. By the time you hit 50 this is not really an issue except for Dragoons.

Then perhaps jobs need an early weaving move instead of a of a .5 seconds faster GCD.

You break Palace of the Dead doing this. It would not affect any of the Ultimates. This is mostly a pre 40-50 issue that you see the complaints. I honestly am not against literally changing when an ability gets added to the action bar across all jobs in the 15-35 range.

There needs to be a solution as ignoring this constant across the board negative feedback is not going to work.

Yep, pretty much this argument completely negates OP's suggestion.

I do agree that early game feels incredibly slow and boring. Specially for classes like Lancer and Rogue who only have 2 skills till level 30, and then become some of the most entertaining and unique jobs. The early classes are a really poor representation of what the job will evolve into.

Personally I think a better solution would be for new accounts/new characters to have a tutorial mission where they get to experience the class they pick as a level 50 job in a small area, for example, a flashback of the Battle of Cartenau.

TERA used to do this where upon starting a new character you played through a tutorial battle as a level 30 and then when that tutorial was over you began the game proper at level 1.

Wait.. are you talking about that OG intro on the Island of Dawn? Where you fight alongside Elleon?

It won't solve the complaints. People would just complain about something else.

Does early leveling need to be adjusted for skill spread? Yes, but I don't think this is the way to do it.
