    I'd honestly want the same.

That is, we'd have a trial followed by a solo duty for the final boss. If it really is Zenos who ends up being the last threat we face, even moreso would I want to finish the guy off in a truly solo fight, as opposed to yet another instance of having help then the narrative pretending we didn't.

I mean they can do that and still have it be a group instance, though. It'll just be that in the narrative every other player is that reflection/past incarnation rather than other adventurers like the usual.

I wonder if Venat's team is sundered/unsundered. Maybe there are unsundered ancients from that team running around the world without anyone knowing.

Also, you can't put instances like that in the Duty Finder because of their weird set up so you need to provide a consistent incentive to get people to keep doing it. The closest thing that they could do to what you're suggesting is make another dungeon like Praetorium but I don't think they're ever gonna make something like that again given how it ended up.

Also, Beast Tribes are only our allies as long as they don't summon their primals. Just because they're our allies now doesn't mean they can't get (re-)tempered by summoning another Primal.
Maybe not summon a full version of the Primal, but Demi versions like Bahamut and Phoenix, or whatever the Garuda summon in Xelphatol is.

And I don't know the limitations of the engine, but if making a DR sized instance where roles a minimum of certain roles are required is not possible, then it could very well be a 24 man raid.

I just don't see the final Trial/Fight of the game being an 8 man version. It's the end. Gotta go big big BIG

    More people =/= more epic.

I think just giving the fight more phases then usual would be good enough to make it feel more like a final boss.

For the most part neither I nor most have taken Fandaniel at his word, indeed I've mostly focused on Sharlayan as a potential Biggest Bad, but what if Fandaniel is both (1) honest and forthright, and (2) somewhat justifiable?

To focus a little on Fourchenault's confidence that Sharlayan will survive whatever happens, perhaps the Sharlayanites know this because they've lived it before, have travelled back in time to their purposes, and have somehow trapped Fandaniel in an aeon-long Groundhog Day for their own benefit. He could then reasonably conclude that the only way for him to die would be to take out their world altogether.

I really would not want there to be yet more time-wimey shenanigans after Shadowbringers already touched on that, personally.

I am curious as to how Sharlayan's non-interference would be beneficial to their survival, though.

Perhaps they've already been presented with an ultimatum from Fandaniel that they won't be targeted as long as they stay their hand (Though it's unlikely he'd actually adhere to sucha promise in the long run). They are probably the single-most capable of addressing the issue of the Final Days outside of us and the Scions, after all.

Hate to say it, but I don’t think they’ll be touching time travel in such a major way again. Too many chances to create story problems or contradictions. Hell, they went to extreme lengths to make the reasons for our previous examples incredibly difficult if not impossible to replicate.

And given the Sharlayan confidence they’ll survive I agree they’ve gotta have a few cards up their sleeves.

If Sharlayan are to play the role of Amaurot in this retelling they may not really have any cards, or at least not any good ones, just a case of supreme overconfidence, though honestly, it may not ever be that, Fourchenault's words in the trailer don't really speak for a people who are sure they'll survive or even have some secret or fool proof plan. "Come what may, we shall live on, we must." That sounds less like they, as in the people of Sharlayan now will live through this and more they have some means that the "essence" of Sharlayan will, like they don't even intend to survive, but don't care so long as they "live on" in some fashion, and seem content to not even put up a fight so long as that is the case.

A good point. I guess my own interpretation of that line is maybe not confidence in survival, but confidence in the oath they’ve taken. For a society of learned individuals, the decision to not intervene in the events that are unfolding, or at the very least support the organization that has prevented two calamities already, seems unwise.

That is unless they know something we don’t.
