I think that maybe in a few more expansion they might feel they have enough to expand the roles to include Magic Melee but right now it seems like the only Melee DPS classes that really use magic (specifically magic and not just aether bc like pretty much every job uses aether) are Ninja and now maybe Reaper.

I agree. I think they’re going to pull a Tellah from ff4. It makes sense given that Sharlayan itself is a stand-in for Mysidia and we even have a stand-in for Mt.Ordeals in Labyrinthos.

I'm a little curious about how the Magus Sisters are going to play into things, considering that...

it's exceedingly likely that their Lunar versions are going to be bosses for the Thravnair tower dungeon between their presence in the artwork and the countless Matanga being imprisoned there.

Having to fight both their weaker tower summoned incarnations and their "true" selves seems potentially redundant, though they could pull something like having the three of them serve as individual bosses in the dungeon but only fight you together in a trial against them.

Regarding Fourchenault not being in the poster, I wouldn't make too much of it. Elidibus wasn't either for SHB and yet he played a big part in it. Hard to think Fandaniel won't be a big player, either. I think they can utilise absence as much as placement on a poster, to focus/misdirect as to who is going to matter more/less.

It's worth noting, though, that the game has a significant number of role-players - many of whom are pretty interested in whatever new jobs and playable races are added to the game. With that in mind, I'm not overly fond of such things being super rare and exclusive. Especially not in an MMO with countless players.

Perhaps Reaper will start out as something rare, but much like how the Warrior and Summoner jobs began to become more widespread I hope to see such treatment given to pretty much every playable job eventually.

Worth noting BLM is headed in that direction too, or at least is creeping towards it.

Something that recently crossed my mind based on my bit of Greek knowledge (with Sharlayan and Amaurot being heavily inspired by Greece.) I was thinking about the Labyrinth zone that they showed and my mind immediately went to this.

Daedalus conceived to escape from the Labyrinth with Icarus from Crete by constructing wings and then flying to safety. He built the wings from feathers and wax, and before the two set off he warned Icarus not to fly too low lest his wings touch the waves and get wet, and not too high lest the sun melt the wax. But the young Icarus, overwhelmed by the thrill of flying, did not heed his father's warning, and flew too close to the sun whereupon the wax in his wings melted and he fell into the sea.

It’s just something interesting to me because of the fake sun they have, but also a few others and i have theorized that maybe Sharlayan is so sure of surviving because they plan to leave the planet altogether. This would be an interesting tie-in what with Azem being associated with the sun and then again, them having a fake sun inside.

He might die. I don't expect it to be protecting the twins, though.

My suspicion is that Sharlayan is in cahoots with Venat/Hydaelyn, maybe even controlled by them politically behind the scenes. Their goal is to survive the end of days and rule whatever new world remains as the modern equivalent of the Amaurotians, with their goddess's blessing. It won't work, though, and Old Sharlayan will be in ruins by the end because of their arrogance.

It's honestly seeming like there's multiple dungeons in the region, with the initial one being the tower, then the outdoor one happening later in the MSQ when the Final Days start making everything go to heck.

I feel both were probably being referenced by Uriganer's lines in the opening movie about the region being granted only a temporary respite.
