I think you may have misread. They're saying out of the major animal families on Earth, primates are one of the few that have larger males than females. In many cases it's the other way around. Especially in the insect world.

None of the races we can play are insects. Most mammals have bigger males than females. It’s true for canines, felines, kangaroos, deer, etc. Not just primates. Rabbits are a rare exception, as well as whales off the top of my head, but it was just a super wild take.

The below image is of my boyfriend and I. He is a max height miqo and I'm a min height viera. As you can see the height difference between us is quite small.

I think it's safe to say that some male viera will be able to be taller than at least some female viera because I don't imagine SE would give male viera a height range that matches male miqos because frankly they would just end up looking like a different type of miqo instead of something more distinct.

I don't know if male viera would be able to be as tall as a max height female but I figured I would show this image to give an idea as to what might happen with their height range.

Personally I would like if the males cannot be as tall as max height females. I know that among mammals in our animal kingdom it is rare for the females to be larger...but it does happen, and there's no reason why viera can't be an outlier in FFXIV's world. It would also make sense given viera have a matriarchal society. But if it turns out the males can be taller I won't lose sleep over it. I'm just so glad they're even coming to the game.

Even if they make them tall, midgets or same size as female viera, some ppl whon't like it. Ppl here want big bunnies but ppl who demand midgets are a thing too.
Tbh female au ra is already bad enough, making male viera the same size as females is a good change (only lalafels have that and are they complaining ? xD).
If it's just a tad smaller why not? but male miqo are already small aniway (getting past that limit is making au ra again).

I'm with you OP, this is the best possible option, and those who want shorter males should also support this idea, because as much as they try to push it, we don't really know their height and they could very well be taller than we think, and they are definitely not male miqo size.

They are mammals. I’m not sure what your point is?

My whole point was that the person I originally quoted was saying that primates are one of the few animal groups with smaller females than males. That’s just not true in general with mammals and I still don’t know why they singled out primates.

I don’t care if male viera are shorter or same size as female viera, I just thought it was a super whacky take.

There have been comparison using the Orbonne scenery as a guide that suggest they'll be roughly the same size.

Add in the fact that existing lore says they are indistinguishable from females prior to puberty suggests very little gender dimorphism among Viera, I doubt we're getting short Viera men.

I've yet to see anything suggesting they might be short beyond some players wanting it.
