Because his children are adults by Sharlayan standards and free to make their own choices, so he's not going to stop them even if he disagrees.
Quite a nice trailer even if the faces of the scions looked off to me. Sharlayan looked absolutely beautiful in the trailer, but a bit worse when we got to the ingame version.
I do kinda wonder if maybe the twins father disagrees deep down with the decision on not being part of the coming battle since we did see him balling his fist. I mean even if the twins are adults in their country they are still his children, I kinda doubt that he would be that cold. But it is interesting that they are basically the modern Amaurotines. Ignoring the danger until its too late. I mean even if they built something underground, do they really believe that all would be fine down there? That the final days are just another calamity?
About the expansion poster: I also think that the woman on top is Venat, since she is holding some kind of Ancient mask. Also the thing behind her kinda looks like part of a crystal. I still doubt that Zenos is suddenly becoming an ally. Others have pointed out that villians did appear on the posters in the past and he is kinda on the same position that he was in stormblood. Still curious on why they left out Fandaniel.
I was more thinking about their naming culture for males, do they follow same skin tones for both clans, how tall or short can they be etc aka the little stuff that we have to wait longer for.I imagine they'll just sort of pop into existence then we pretend they were there all along like the other new races.
We already have their background lore, which is that the males are taken out of the female settlements to be raised by other males as soon as they're old enough to get on without their mothers, then they simply live as hidden guardians of the wood.
I do want to hear how the Dramtaurge got their Viera information was it second hand from females (which is what I would assume happened) as well as maybe finding out why the males must be seperated once they hit adolescence(is it a more physiological thing etc).
The fact we could get 1st hand accounts from male Vieras has me all sort of happy.
The twins father(book isn't on hand and name escapes me) is someone I see us working with but not initially, he has respected his father and his children's views and let them do as they wish, compare this to what happens in the Ast questline and he is far more reasonable and respectful.
I suspect the Sharlayan portion is going to be about convincing him that we need Old Sharlayan to help and they must needs intervene this time or risk losing everything they worked for as well as possibly being where we meet Venat and Hydelyn again.
I just wanna say I love how Estinien has gone from
"I hate Dragons so much I will literally walk around bathed in there blood for days refusing to just wash it off"
to
"I am like 1/5 Nidhogg at least and swear by the Fury that I will actively becoming besties with every single member of the First Brood I come across"
It's legit one of the best character arc's the games history.
With Reaper starting in Ul'dah I wonder if it will be tied to the Order of Nald'thal.

Also wonder from which country trainer will be.
With the death and whatnot, I wouldn't be surprised if they're from Lea Monde, the Republic of Landis, or somewhere in Garlemald. If they wanted to give us a curveball, the trainer would turn out to be another Ascian who is basically keeping out of the main conflict and just watching what happens.

I wonder if Reaper will have Mhachi origins much like BLM did?
