Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

do you all already noticed that we never have saw one male viera on the entire final fantasy franchise, and now we have these boys on final fantasy xiv? I'm double happy =D

They look pretty tall to me, but you'd have to see them side by side to be sure.

I'm hoping for shorter than the females, but not a huge, jarring disconnect like Au Ra. Maybe half a head shorter at the same slider settings.

I just read through the stuff on reddit and thought "the thread surely must have exploded over it" and it did. Finally we got them and I am happy that we get the confirmation that female Hrothgars will come too.

I had a slight feeling we could see them, because that first t-shirt he was wearing during the announcement event went unexplained (and it was a gap-toothed female with "no comment" written on it.) Let me just throw this in because of how uncannily similar it is (IMO) to what they went with.





Just hope they'll be nice and tall, or at least with a height range that lets them be similar to male elezen. I think a height range that goes both below the females at min and above them at max would be a good compromise for our conflicting wishes on that front.

I'm pleased with the overall look they went with and it does look like the approach taken was elezen perfected, once more.

Lion girls will also be coming, so keen to see what they look like, even if I won't be playing one. I might consider male Viera depending on the full range of customisation options, but already the face shown is to my tastes.

They're already thinking of working on what is arguably the most ambitious graphics-related project, i.e. the texture conversion:

Plus, assets that we created nearly ten years ago didn’t factor in the possibility of being displayed at the high resolutions available to us today, so we have to think about how to revise quite a massive amount of assets efficiently.

We also are looking at adding additional Trophies to FFXIV on a regular basis, given that the Trophy system is now more flexible in that regard.

Given this, plus the game's expected lifespan, I do expect we'll see some character creation upgrades by 7.0.
