Mounts as Companions?

I feel a little bad for our magitek armor friend who basically ceases to exist in the story after you get the mount quest reward after Prae.

OH! I've completely forgot about that and now it makes me sad because that Magitek Armor makes complete sense as a Companion.
Other companion that make sense: Anima.

We really should have got a Companion for each expansion.
Chocobo as default.
Magitek Armor for clearing ARR.
A Moogle or maybe a Dragon for HW.
The Yol for SB.
And an Amaro for ShB.

I thought that but thought it might be weird to have Middy fighting alongside you through SB and ShB, especially given his involvement in Omega.
