Mounts as Companions?

I feel a little bad for our magitek armor friend who basically ceases to exist in the story after you get the mount quest reward after Prae.

OH! I've completely forgot about that and now it makes me sad because that Magitek Armor makes complete sense as a Companion.
Other companion that make sense: Anima.
