Soo you meld 3 materia, 1 is gonna have to be CP, and if the other two are control and craftsmenship... A tier VIII materia is 21 craftsmenship or 13 control...
830 + 21 is 851, 3 craftsmenship lower then the Skysteel.
455 + 13 is 468, control equal to the Skysteel
Also -1 on the item level... even if you waste the highest tier materia... it's worse.

This is my biggest issue with it. Resplendent are the hardest crafts in the game, which require the best gear for. . . literally the same thing as the relic you used to craft it?

All for a glow?

That you'll be able to two button craft in the next expansion if the glow glamour is that important to you?

IMHO the resplendent tools were a waste of developer time. They should have done the next step of the crafter relic and made them better than pentemelded HQ Asthete's.

The Resplendent tools aren't intended to be best crafting tools. They're intended to be bragging rights for hardcore crafters so they can prove how hardcore they are, which is something many were asking for.

I doubt very much that SE is going to create rewards that will give a tiny group of players a serious market advantage over the rest of the community considering the changes they've made to crafting/gathering this expansion. If the Resplendent tools don't appeal, then the community needs to offer other suggestions.

Which I addressed. They'll literally be 2 button crafts come Endwalker. So they're not hardcore at all. I know you didn't make the comparison, but they're not like the Ultimate version of crafting.

We don't know that they'll be 2 button crafts in Endwalker. SE might not continue Trained Eye or increase the effect to include level 80 recipes. They may intentionally exclude its use on Expert since that would trivialize what Expert is intended to be - hardcore crafting.

But for the rest of this expansion at the least, the recipes for Resplendent materials are very much hardcore crafting.

We have years of history to go on, and it has proven that trained eye works on every single previous 5 star recipe.

Technically, they do. Ultimate weapons are better than their Savage counterparts due to that extra materia slot. It's meaningless but they are better. Which is more than the Resplendent tools can climb.

Nevertheless, the issue is for many hardcore crafters, they aren't after some "prestigious" tool. They're interested in simply making gil either to spend on glamour and such or simply for the sake of having it. I fall in the latter category myself. Additionally, I personally don't feel these tools carry any "status" beyond "hey, I beat RNG!!" Which is the essential problem with crafting grinds like this. Unlike battle content, where you can solve a problem either by learning the mechanics or helping raid mates learn, there's no sense of control with these higher tier Expert Recipes. You can progress all the way to the needed craft only for RNG to say "NOPE!" and back to the beginning you go throughout no fault of your own. That alone ruins any prestige for me because it doesn't feel earned so much as lucky.

Either way, I sincerely doubt these tools will have the desired impact. Hell, even the likes of Ashe10 isn't touching them until Endwalker simply because they aren't worth the effort.

"hey, I beat RNG!!" Which is the essential problem with crafting grinds like this.

This has been the crux of the issue since the beginning. Almost every single elitist crafter post I've seen has wanted to go back to the ignorant ARR RNG crafting method. Where they claim it was pure skill and know-how that got them to the elitist crafter position they came to love. No, it was purely lucky dice rolls. There was no "skill" or "know-how" to rolling a natural 20. It was simply a longer grind, having to redo the ones you failed to get good rolls on.

This is what "expert" crafting is now. You can still macro craft the crap, and battering ram your way through it. Just be prepared to redo a lot of them. It's not "special." The tools are worthless. Their glow isn't even as nice as the Ishgard ones. They're simply a waste of time. I can't believe the devs had to waste their time on making this a system, because a small vocal minority wanted to show how 1337 they were. We could've had more Fêtes!
