Roleplay/Partyfinder Discrepancies & Policy Enforcement by GM's

It's very likely to be a blanket ban brought about by the excess of inappropriate party finder listings related to erotic role-play. The role-playing community itself has not been addressing that, thus the GM's likely have no choice but to do what they can to mitigate such things from being apparent. Naturally I can't name any names due to the naming and shaming rules in place, though a number of 'cafes' and 'casinos' advertised through the party finder have turned out to be connected to some very predatory individuals.

If they want to crack down on inappropriate listings then they should do so, but they really shouldn't "blanket ban" people or listings that have nothing to do with that.

A warning is a permanent strike on your account that never goes away, it's like giving everyone in an 8 man group a permanent strike on their account because 1 of them swore just to teach them all a lesson about not swearing.

My initial thought that this was about purging the ERP venues from Party Finder... It's something, as a role-player on Primal, I really wouldn't mourn... But going after SFW stuff seems like a GM is going overboard. I mean, what if I opened a venue that's a triple triad parlor..? If I advertise it am I going to get pulled into jail? Especially since I'm advertising in game content?

As for the people saying "just use fellowships for role-playing", have you tried using fellowships? They aren't the greatest.

I want to see just how far this one GM is going to tyrade. The RP community has been advertising events and venues on the PF since the day of it's inception in 2.1. This is something that's carried on for at *least* five years prior. Now, unannounced and in violation of their own Terms of Service, one person is trying to ban out an entire community's practice. They will either stop, or people will stop paying their company and directly affect their well being. Which is it going to be? There are plenty of other MMO's that will treat their roleplaying community better that are already out there. We can just move if this is too much of a hassle.

Because if there's one language Square will listen to, it's money. Lose them money, they'll fix their shit.

That first sentence comes from the implication of what you are saying.

Let's clarify it:

Helping someone clear content, and piloting them through content, or putting them in a position where they are not required to learn/execute any mechanics or put any effort in at all are 2 entirely different things. I'm saying it's not ok to sell content.

So is it ok if they do the same thing but for free?

Do you think SE will do anything if 7 people are willing to let 1 person jump off the edge the moment they can and clear the content like that for them?

And let's not forget that we're talking about PF advertisement here. So they can make it vague enough that you can't say just from the ad what exactly they are doing.

Also the content being sold through PF is 1) RMT 2) giving the seller access to the buyer's account which are both against the ToS.

If you read my first post, I think you would know that I'm not talking about that.

Imagine using party finder to find a party, the activities of the party are irrelevant, and getting in trouble for using something for its intended purpose. I'd just up and cancel my account if the rule enforcers are going to be arbitrary about the rules like that.

Legit question... Let's pretend that the Party Finder is for content... Isn't role-playing content? I mean, they gives us lot of emotes, a complex glamour system, even a role-playing icon... For both houses and players. It seems like it's something the developers want to encourage.

Also, considering that unless someone messes up setting up the Party Finder (which shouldn't be a bannable offense), why is it problematic to advertise venues in "other"?

I saw mentioned that someone caught up in all this was looking for a fishing buddy under the "Other" section.

So unless you're selling clears it doesn't seem allowed, no.

It is, actually. Yoshida himself has referred to RP as "player-made content."
RP features include- Housing, gpose, explore mode, fashion accessories, perform, emotes, fellowships and a dedicated RolePlay status, with more to likely come.

Yoshi P has said numerous times that they shifted part of their development cycle to further expanding the RP capabilities of FFXIV to make it a world people can "live in," this GMs actions fly in the face of this direction and I'm still baffled by how many people in this thread have replied in support of their personal crusade.

They have a personal personal agenda.
