Honestly, even if you want Party finder to be purely for content, there should be some sort of advertising board at the least then for such things. maybe even tying a house to it to keep bots out. make it easier to get to the places so that the function stays on these boards than your precious party finder. Because honestly, attacking any rp thing to try to kill ERP is such a bad plan that it honestly isn't going to stop the ERPers anyways. Those people do not care, but it will stop those trying to host fun events, like concerts or dance party's, restaurants and all that. My fc is in the works of opening finally and its a bit frustrating after getting the house all ready.

Not to mention now that if people stop using pf, get ready for your Shout chat to get annihilated, since you are now going to have to see people advertise they are open in city instead of just having a post.

The idea that RPers should use Fellowships for advertising open RP venues just doesn't serve the same function that PF serves. If a group of RPers opens their establishment to the public for a specific span of time, say 5-8pm on a given night. They aren't going to be able to advertise that in Fellowships where interested people can find them to come for one night for a specific period of time.

As far as I've seen, Fellowships are more for creating permanent social networks that can be checked in on. That's great if you already have an established group of RPers who might check in on it to come to your establishment. But that just doesn't work for deciding "Hey, we're open tonight! People are welcome to come and RP!" and putting that message out there to any random player on the server who might be looking for RP and interested in coming.

This is something I commented on earlier and another reason it's likely that these warning are by a sole GM misunderstanding. If you're unfamiliar with rp, perhaps you wouldn't realize that these are venues that are advertising now because they are doing an activity now. Which is exactly what the PF is for.

Yay, kick the brothels off PF. Keep at it, GM team! I don't even care if we lose "pls send feet pics" or "feeling depressed pls give attention" listings as collateral.

I burned through my entire blacklist with ERP/18+ ads on Aether in about three weeks. That's with only a few (10 or so) runsellers, and none of the SFW RP social blocking.

The only thing I can say, with the deepest sincerity, is get dunked on.

We need better tools for RP built into the game, period. It's a MMORPG, and people are going to RP. I used to. But I shouldn't have to install a third-party plugin to get rid of all the advertisement spam in PF, or the Shout spam in Limsa and Ul'dah. Solutions I can think of:

• A dedicated Roleplay tab in Party Finder. We already have a RP tag for search info, so this is the logical extension of that. One-stop shop for all your RP needs. And it doesn't clog up Other.
  
• Multiple party finders for the exact same thing should still be reportable. I don't mean one or two, I mean the venues who have 3+ advertisement up for the exact same event. No more than two to take into account PF's time limit.
  
• Make fellowships actually useful, and expand user capability in cross-world linkshells (CWLS). People spam up Party Finder because it can actually be seen by all, unlike fellowships, which you have to look for to find, and CWLS's cap of 200 characters.
  
• Actually punish people for other kinds of spam too, like selling clears. My Crystal PF is constantly spammed by UCOB/UWU/TEA/Savage clear sellers. It's hypocritical otherwise.

I'm less likely to attend a venue if it spams up my Party Finder and Shout channels. But as a former RPer, I understand the need to advertise to bring in fresh blood, therefore I'm not against better tools, for everyone.

i don’t get it. if it bothers you just filter out the “other” tab? it’s even at the bottom so it doesn’t make it harder to find content parties. it’s not like you’re going to miss much by filtering out the other tab, besides advertisements to sell items to skip MB tax and troll posts... which is also against TOS if you think like that since it isn’t for content either.

Honestly, while I'm not an RP'er, I support their right to play the game as they want, and I feel like the easiest solution would be what some people have stated in this thread and just ADD a RP tab in the PF. The devs could even have a banner at the top linking to a ToS pop-up for posting an ad there. So things like 18+ and brothels stay off it.

Which I honestly don't mind existing, as long as everyone's consensual and of age (no RMT of course), but I've noticed a decided uptick in /shout adds the last couple years to the point of it becoming spamm-y in regards to SPECIFICALLY 18+ or NSFW RP. At least on Aether. That's way more annoying in my opinion than if you could just select an RP tab in the PF and see what's on there.

I get that fellowship finder is supposed to be something for socializing and such, but I agree with the logic that if you want to grow your community/rp circle, the PF would be better on the account of just getting wayyy more traffic as a feature. It's the difference between being on a main street or a side street in a city and they deserve a spot on main just as much as any other community in the game. I still think 18+ is side street content though, given that this isn't an M rated game and there are under-aged players on main. (Just to continue the analogy, haha)

But yeah, give them a tab and make it clear what won't be tolerated on there for ToS purposes. People have enough agency to either click or avoid the tab if it's not relevant to them. If the devs are able to take it a step further, give an option to "mute" a tab on PF if a player absolutely doesn't want to see. Though with the technical limitations I'm not holding my breath on that

An average fellowship does quickly fill to its capacity of 1,000 if it's left up for a few months. People do check it frequently, despite the memes.

Btw from what I can find, TOS 3.3 simply states "Profanity and Offensive Language. You may not use profanity or any language that a reasonable person would find offensive. The Game is for players aged 13 and older. You agree to behave accordingly."
Nothing about RP or advertising venues.
By contrast this single GM is effectively encouraging us to break the Prohibited Activites rules by saying that we should use chat channels, which would affect other people's gameplay and disrupt conversations.

Memes aside rp adverts are far less annoying then Rmt and content seller adverts. If that stuff allowed then I see no reason why RP is treated harshly.
