People need to stop pushing the blame onto others for their poor personal decisions. If you don't want to have to camp, don't do it. Houses are not required to play the game. They're merely something you want. You can pop into a ward, click the placard to see if you get lucky then leave. You do not have to stay.

It's not the nicest thing to say, but how I see it generally is if videogame is making you angry and disappointed, makes you cry and wreck your sanity and wrist too... it is time to take a break. Be it with crafting, raiding, shitposting in Limsa or pining for house.
It is not worth it.
Most important things in life are free.
Second most important cost pretty penny, be it real or videogame money. But second most important things are secondary. You see?

It's just a sad reality that there aren't enough houses. Someone will always be left out. But if I stop playing my plot will get demolished and then someone else can have it.

One thing I do find shitty however, is that you can own more than one plat becausecof account magics. That should totally be discouraged.
