You certainly seemed to like how the timer system reduces competition.

Never said that I liked it at all, but okay. I also never said that the current system was good. It's awful. But as far as that other suggestion in that other thread, it makes a bad situation worse. I would also argue that there should be no need for competition at all, which would mean fixing the system entirely. That is everything I said in a nutshell, not what you think I said. Clearly still trying to get that through that head of yours, but it goes in one ear and out the other, so to speak. I know it's probably not worth the effort. If Ishgard housing ends up being traditional wards, it should be clear to every player, the system is working as intended in SE's view.

Ward housing holds subscriptions hostage. And given the limited number of mediums/larges - and out of that, the even more limited number of desirable lakefront mediums/beachside larges etc - a lot of small houses owners remain subscribed in the hopes of getting their dream mediums/larges.

So again, if there are no major changes to housing with Ishgard housing, it's clearly how SE intends.

I think a large part of the question is whether Square-Enix, outside core Japan, actually opposes RMT, or (as I believe NA Community Team, or members thereof, have held the position since XI) that RMT and other forms of cheating are necessary to play the game at a community-acceptable level, and those of us who actually speak out against it are now, in fact, against the Terms of Service because we are now committing Obstruction (which is a GMable offense) against the "good" (read: cheating, account-selling, and/or RMT) players.

When that finally gets back to Japan to a sufficiently-embarassing level, you will see endgame on the NA side absolutely GUTTED, even though SE (at least Japan) tried to make XIV more friendly to a more casual/"lesser" player.

The key is, and this is where I get a bit frustrated with some of the other people, you don't know the status of that timer.

If the gil number is up there, you know the timer is "sufficiently short" that you can plop a bot there, script the entire process, and hope that, the instant the plot becomes available, your script is the first one to hit.

Without that knowledge, you could be there six months and not know.

With a lottery + timer, each human and/or bot can only register once. The game chooses one person with no reliance on the number of clicks. Just proximity and whoever holds one lottery ticket. It's far better than what we have now.

A plot that is open for 6 months is worse than a 45 day demolition timer.

I think the guy above surmised the system best, “if Ishgard housing is released as the current system, it’s working as intended” aka deal with and move on. As a current house owner in a desired plot I’d be pretty irked by taking all that work and making it instanced. Are there better lots? Of course! Working 40 hours, having a family, responsible adult is not something that stopped me from getting one. That’s an invalid excuse imho. Try harder and wait. If playing the placard game is your game of choice then so be it, on YOU! If trying out back alley discord rmt deals is something you’re comfortable with, again on you. Try harder or wait for an opportune time. Taking to the English forums and making a thread on it daily is exhaustive and frankly only the same 10-20 people care. It’s your sub so so you, be a grown adult about it though instead of some child stomping their feet. Truth hurts and anything worth a damn takes work.

If they are actually going to do and state this is intended, stop banning gilselling, because it's about the only way to get housing in this game. You're going to have to deal with them one way or the other.

And if you're not going to do anything else if you're Square-Enix, your actual best solution is to take the RMT out of the hands of the gilsellers and assume it yourself: All future player/FC housing goes on the Mog Station!!

Also the community teams have zero input over game development. They handle community relations and publicity.
