Castrum isn't that bad of an instance with a full group tbh. It's a better Alliance Raid. First boss is a split boss, then you fight trash mobs, split up to save prisoners (who can die, but it's not the end of the place if they do), regroup to murder the final mob, then go forward for a boss and bonus chests for everybody you saved afterwards, then you go fight the final boss. In terms of overall difficulty, I'd say it's mechanically easier than WoD but more difficult than Void Ark.

It's quite a bit harder then any Alliance raid. You need to manage for yourself your party structure to make sure you have at least 2 parties with a healer and a tank in it (or hope that people use Essences which is extremely unlikely). While that was done in the beginning now it's very unlikely to find people willing to organize that.

That's not exactly hard, even then. Lost Actions can cover a lot of problems that could arise from bad party comps.

Yeah, I don't think it is difficult by any means. The first boss is usually the main hurdle that makes or breaks a group. In my experience they break right then and there 95% of the time, usually because someone pulls early and no one had time to coordinate everyone's efforts.

The few times I've went in to try and assist. Never once seen an early pull. Actually everything all coordinated.. then we fail. It's really sad. I've only cleared it three times, but I've probably went in over a dozen times.

Thing is nowadays, don't ever get enough to even make an attempt. Before when I was trying to get my clear, I at least had the opportunity to wipe. It doesn't look like new players nowadays are even getting that chance.

The problem I see with most groups attempting castrum is the severe lack of communication. Especially on the first boss and going to the rooms to rescue if you want to maximize your coins from the run.
