To be fair, OP is notorious for creating thread decrying how horrible x piece of content is, how everyone hates them and etc. Which is why Liam and others have approached this thread with a healthy dose of skepticism.

With that all said, the system itself is fine. If we take this scenario at face value. Thirty minutes isn't long at all. If the party is rude enough you don't want to be apart of it, take the penalty (unfairly or not) and do something else. There just isn't a reasonable way for the devs to program subjective variables. If all it took was a failed Vote Abandon to let you leave penalty free, guess what everyone starts doing?
